Anyone know of any muslim owned businesses I can boycott?
-
Anybody else see conan's chic-fil-a mascot??? very funny.
I'm on the fence here....I feel gays should have same rights as straight couples in terms of the law.
Say you're a gay cop....you and your boyfriend chip are doing well and decide to adopt a haitian earthquake orphan baby. Your boyfriend is a good man but has trouble hanging on to a decent job so its a good thing your a cop that gets decent benefits. You are the first one to bfactors or my rampage and get ambushed. now your boyfriend and your haitian earthquake orphan baby lose the benefits. Its a legal issue not a religous issue. -

I've never been there. By default, I am boycotting.

if gay people want to experience divorce... the fuck if I'm gonna stop them

People wildly confuse raisin canes tenders with the sauce.
The sauce is what makes he tender. Without the sauce the tenders
Are average. With sauce they are A+++++ -

This isn't about gays, it's about freedom of speech. The CEO is against gay marriage. Him being a devout christian (Chic Fil A's are closed on Sunday's, aren't they?) he is entitled to his opinion. Maybe being a public figure too he might have kept his opinion to himself but I also doubt the business will be hurting a lot. There's no such thing as bad publicity and I wouldn't be surprised if they sold more chicken in the short term.
Oh and it is about time they launch Nando's in the US! -
I grew up on Chick-fil-a. I actually know Truett Cathy personally. It's the best ran fast food restaraunt in the country.
-
At a Chic-fil-a now. Drive through line is around the building, so I went inside.
People who never met were just talking about the importance of making a statement today. Will be interesting to see how this affects sales today.
I heard one guy tell his 3 y/o son that they could come back for lunch.
Funny how (some) libs made such a big deal about this. The guy expressed a common view from a religion that everyone already knew he was a part of. He didn't say anything hateful, or even anything anti-gay, for that matter. Lol @ boycott. Their business is booming today; they are based in Atlanta and anchored in the South ffs. -
Yea, I'm never going to shop at Circle K again either, or Piggly Wiggly for that matter... there's none here obv

I don't agree with Cathy's stance on gay marriage, but I think this is "much ado about nothing". If I boycotted every restaurant/musician/movie director/actor, etc... who disagreed with me on something, I'd never leave my freakin' house. I think people are making WAY too much out of this. How is it hateful to say that you believe in the traditional view of marriage? It's not hate, it's just an unpopular opinion.
By the way, to the person who said something about the owner of Chick-fil-A making a difference in the community, they give A LOT of money to charity. Cathy is a decent, up-standing American and runs a top-notch company. The level of service you get there is far, far superior to other fast food places. Have a couple friends who work there to make extra money. One of them was telling us last week that she attended a big meeting with a bunch of big wigs from the company. She is just a cashier. She said that the big wigs had all the "peons" sit down and they waited on and served THEM. She said it's an amazing, positive place to work.
**Also,

I think you can eat your Chick-fil-A sandwich, enjoy it and still sleep at night. You're welcome :) -
I personally fucking hate their no sunday policy but hey its a PRIVATE COMPANY.

I like turtles

it's about free speech to the extent that boston and chicago are talking about keeping chick-fil-a out (which is pretty bad, imo).

it's not about free speech, though, to the extent that we talk about how terribly stupid the comments made by chick-fil-a's president were (and how terrible the position they support is). -
this is incredibly silly

I'm not really into supporting bigotry, especially just for some cheap ass "food"

Did anyone read the blog I posted? I think this has been made out that Chick-fil-A supports "anti-gay" groups, but I think that charge has been totally overblown. They've donated a VERY small percentage (miniscule, really) of their overall profits to groups that support traditional marriage. I think my favorite line in the whole thing was "Saying Chick-fil-A is anti-gay for donating to a religious organization is like saying someone supports domestic violence because they paid to see a Mel Gibson movie.” I really think it's a stretch to make the charge that someone is a bigot for saying that they support the traditional view of marriage. And I'm a person who thinks gay people should be allowed to marry if they want to fwiw.

this is an awful analogy. when you see a mel gibson movie (or go to chick-fil-a), you are giving money to them. when you give money to chick-fil-a, they use some of it (a small %, but some of it) to support anti-gay proponents (and don't give me any of this "religious organization" nonsense; they give money to groups whose primary purpose is to keep gay marriage illegal).

conversely, mel gibson is not donating money to pro-domestic violence organizations. your money, when you see a mel gibson movie, isn't going to people who actively promote the repeal of domestic violence laws. the analogy doesn't work. -
I didn't read your blog but I agree with a lot of what you said (the bold) :)

Regardless of how much was given whether it be a lot or a little, they are indeed supporting groups that do not want equal rights for American citizens. Supporting traditional marriage=not allowing gays to marry, do you disagree with this, and if so please elaborate?
