  1. to be considered such a good putter phil sure dose miss alot of 3 to 6 ft puts during the last 4 holes of majors. he is such a choking punk. hes right up there with the all time greats
  2. You just bought yourself a one way ticket to hell sir. Good DAY!
  3. he is the biggest choke artist...today didnt surprise me one bit
  4. whew.. half expected to see my pic. in this. choking is my special T. f lefty, never have liked that guy. was rooting for duval. was nice to see him make a run for once. hated to see him fall off the map after tiger beat him to death in primetime. guy really used to pwn.

edit*... before i get flamed, i was talking about him strictly as a golfer. my deepest condolences go out to him and his family.
  5. X2 Donkallionaire. Besides the usual pressures of the game, the thought of a loved one stricken with cancer is devastating. Give the guy credit for just getting up in the morning and doing his job.

  7. When you are up there that many times, you are bound to choke here and there. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending him at all. However, he is still one of the top 3 golfers in the world.

He'll have his day at the US Open eventually. Just keepin' us in suspense.
  8. Who's number 2?
  9. his stroke on the putt on 17 was absolutely terrible. that open at wingfoote screwed his mind at least when it comes to US opens. I doubt he ever wins an open which sucks cus I love to watch phil. He just constantly lets me down though. that putt on 17 was probably one of the worst ive ever seen hit by a professional. he never even got the ball above the hole nor did he hit it hard enough to even make the hole. It was as easy as a putt can get for a lefty too. uphill left to right that is butter for lefties.
  10. My favorite thing about his ginormous choke today was how the announcers were like "well, look at this great list of guys who are tied with him for the most second place finishes. It's truly a measure of golf greatness."

It actually was a list of great golfers too. Greats who lost to each other, not after choking vs. a tailspinning Lucas Glover, a tailspinning Ricky Barnes, and the 882nd ranked golfer in the world.

  15. Everyone was missing on 17 yesterday. I've always thought Phil is slightly overrated but I've never thought of him as some huge choke artist. Certainly he plays a bit recekless at times when he doesn't have too. Norman's way more of a choke artist than Philly.

Big Phil is AWESOME! I love rooting for the guy, he is having fun out there, talking with the crowd, enjoying himself, maybe he could be a lil more focused out there and make some of those putts, I have definitely called him a choke artist in the past, but I refuse to call him one here with the circumstances, he had so much on his mind, the thought that he might be able to bring home the trophy to his wife like she asked would put anyone under immense pressure - He is always under alot of pressure, but the fact is the guy can play, yea he has missed some crucial putts deep, but he is also getting there - For Phil to even be a contender this past weekend and have a shot of winning the US OPEN with everything he is going thru, that says ALOT about him - I love watching Phil out there, joy to watch and I wish him and his wife the best with their battle -

  17. Maybe a few years back, but hasn't he won multiple majors the last few years?

Hard to call a multiple major winner the biggest choke artist of all time imo.
  18. Maybe not the biggest choke artist ever, but he certainly has more random hiccups/mental lapses than anyone else in golf (at least anyone considered high-caliber).

Lets face it, we all love seeing Phil play that ridiculous flop shot from thick rough to land it within 3 feet of the hole....and then we all love watching him 3 putt it from there lol. So is the way of the enigma we call Lefty.
  19. Hes just not that good of a putter. They made a big deal about it years ago with all the short putting drills he would do, and hes gotten better, but hes still not a great putter by any means.

Visually I agree, he sux at putting, but according to the stats he really isn't all that bad.

    *couldn't find stats for 08

I think the stats just reiterate the point that Lefty is goofy as hell. Seems like he drains everything until he camera is on him live and then he suddenly goes into stupid mode.
  21. NONONONONO I'm not going to let a thread abut choke artist golfers go by without a pic of Jean Van de Velde

  23. Phil just can't get no love.

Best final round of the top 5 at the US open? Phil Mickleson.

The only guy with the choke thread the next day: Phil Mickleson.

Phil is getting love...just tough love. We say he is choking because he is/was expected to obliterate those other guys (Barnes, Glover, Fisher, Duval) if they came back to him at all. They came back some, but he couldn't seal the deal.
  26. Some of the best players/teams ALWAYS fell short, atleast Big Phil has come thru and shown he can win - I mean should he have won every US Open where he was Runner Up? Someone had to lose - I am going off memory but I know he finished second to Tiger(Best in world), Ogilvy(Another great player), Payne Stewart(Another great player) and now Lucas Glover, Phil giving himself a shot will everything going on in his life is impressive in itself, lets face it, Phil shouldn't even have been in contention yesterday -

Yea, the guy has missed some putts, but he has played great to make those putts even matter and he has WON, so GTFO with this biggest choke ever -
