  1. Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God?

If the answer is no, Why do you celebrate Christmas?

I'm not trying to start a religious e-fight. I just was always curious. On a side note I have a Jewish friend who goes out to a Chinese restaurant every Christmas with his family. talk about propelling stereotypes.
  2. meh, not worth it
  3. No.

    I don't.

    Yes you are.
  4. No.

I do it because it makes my family happy and I like the mood/idea of having a jolly ole time of year.

  7. christmass started as a Pagan holiday. Yule. Or the winter solstice. As far as jesus christ goes, let me ask you something. I am obviously alive, I am typing a message right now. Being alive, I was obviously born. Ok? Ok. But guess what.

    Seriously, guess what.

My mother NEVER EVER EVER had sex. Ever. She has never seen a penis, she has never had a single sperm within fifty feet of her vagina. But of course she gave birth to me.

    Do you believe me?
  8. high five^

  12. christmas originally had NOTHING to do with jesus sooooo....

if you don't believe in jesus, xmas is still a longtime tradition of celebration etc.

if you do believe in jesus, it's just a convenient day to celebrate his b-day, which all historians know was not dec25.
  13. wow, my first sincere high five. thank you that1chic, im crying a little.

awww im bawling, you guys luv me. you all luv me soo soo much.

  14. Yes, I believe, yes I celebrate.<SPAN> </SPAN>

But, I would never make a post on a forum attempting to condescend non-believers.<SPAN> </SPAN>I also do not feel that non-believers will go to hell.<SPAN> </SPAN>I think everyone is free to believe whatever the fk they wanna believe (I just so happen to believe in a loving, all-good God).<SPAN> </SPAN>
  15. I don't feel nonbelievers will go to hell either and I'm not being trying to be condescending to anyone on here. I hope I didn't come across that way. I was just curious about people's thoughts. You won't see me attacking anyone's religous beliefs on here.

ok bro, yule existed before christ. obv is wasn't actually called Christmas before jesus was born.

the celebration was there tho, for other reasons. i'm not trying to say i know everything about the holiday.

all i know is if you don't believe in jesus, i think it's quite alright to celebrate during this time.

and if you do believe in him, please admit to yourself that he wasn't born in december. they just tied it into the pagan holiday. historians believe jesus was born in the summer.
  17. i thought he was born on st. patricks day?

  20. How can you believe in a mythical being like Jesus! Dont be rediculous!

Xmas is about Santa - now there is a real life dude worth celebrating!

  23. Most parts of the modern Christmas tradition are adaptations of pagan traditions. The Christmas Tree, Yule Tide Logs, the exchanging of gifts, mistletoe, ect. Jesus was not the first story of a virgin birth either. Check out LaoTzu and Sathya Sai Baba, both virgin births that pre date Jesus.
  24. the life of a non-believer is a constant state of humoring everyone around him, to keep from going insane. christmas is one of the few times where it's fun to do so. i am in it for the pretty lights, and the good will. and the presents and the bonus checks.
  25. yes i believe in god.....she has honestly changed my life since i allowed her in my heart
  26. Lol, god is a MAN. A female god have you ever heard...! Snigger.
  27. Do I believe......No.

Than why do I celebrate Xmas.....Because the rest of my family does believe in blah blah blah and I dont project my beliefs onto them. Therefore I keep my mouth shut and celebrate like everyone else.

BTW for those that dont celebrate Xmas and have kids....dont you think you are denying them something special? I couldnt imagine being a kid in school with everyone else talking about what they got for xmas and me just sitting saying, "Oh i dont do the xmas thing"

  28. Do I believe? Kinda. I and my faith believe Jesus is God...but goodness, wouldn't that start a debate on this forum? Not only would it start the typical debate between me and the non-believer, but now the believers as well.

But I don't celebrate Christmas just because of the birth of Christ. Obv Jesus wasn't born on Dec 25th, so meh. Christmas is cool because it's the one time of year where everyone isn't a big asshole(except the last minute shoppers).

    Today.

Seriously, everything about the way that Christmas is celebrated is stolen from previous ceremonies and holidays (including gift-giving). In fact, read Jeremiah 10:1-4

"<span id="en-NIV-19203">1</span> Hear what the LORD says to you, O house of Israel. <span id="en-NIV-19204">

2</span> This is what the LORD says:
"Do not learn the ways of the nations
or be terrified by signs in the sky,
though the nations are terrified by them.
    <span id="en-NIV-19205">3</span> For the customs of the peoples are worthless;
they cut a tree out of the forest,
and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

    <span id="en-NIV-19206">4</span> They adorn it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
    so it will not totter."

Ancient non-Jews celebrating the Solstice used to decorate Solstice trees. Christians in Germany (or maybe the Baltic) stole the tradition in order to get local pagans to stop worshipping Odin and the Aesir and start worshipping Jesus. It obv works.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with celebrating the Solstice, or Christmas. Just be honest about it.
