Reds/Bengals fans almost tilt me as much as Ohio State fans. Living so close to Cincy it is sickening listening to all the bullshit about these two teams. When the Reds and Bengals are sucking dick (like they usually are) no one gives a shit, but when they are doing well everyone jumps on the bandwagon. Its pathetic even when the teams are doing well they have a tough time selling out their stadiums.

You mean when the local team is doing well their popularity grows? Shocking!! The Bengals were really bad for a long time it was hard to root for when they were winning 3 games year for a decade but I was always a fan. I don't give a shit about baseball but am kind of pulling for the Reds to make the playoffs.

So this (except the part about Ohio State.. at least they win something every now and then). It's why I'm a Cleveland fan even though I live only about an hour from Cincy. The Browns sell out every home game every year, even though we avg about 2 wins per season. The Indians have some of the most die-hard baseball fans I know (I'm not one of them. Don't really follow baseball, but still). The Cavs.. well.. they're attendance was horrible pre-LeBron, but I mean we were lucky if they reached 20 wins back then. LeBron made people care about basketball in Cleveland, and I actually don't think it will just go away just like "that". Attendance will obv drop a little bit, but there's still a lot of ppl that love Dan Gilbert for blasting LeBron the way he did. He's literally the face of Cleveland sports right now, besides MAYBE Josh Cribbs.

Well no shit when a team wins the fan base is going to grow, I never said it wouldn't. Yes, the Bengals were really bad for a long time and I'm sure they have plenty of dedicated fans that were there even when they sucked, but it just seems some teams when they do well the fan base grows exponentially (like Cincinnati). In my eyes you either like a team or you don't. You don't just start liking a team because they are winning.

Exactly Swag. Cleveland is a great example. The Browns suck year in and out but they have some of the most dedicated fans in the NFL.
And I never meant to mean Ohio State was bad, their fans just tilt me for other reasons not necessarily bandwagon jumping.
Reason: added stuff -
when have the Bengals had a tough time selling out the stadium for regular season games?

Reds are gonna win the WS, huh? So I guess Bench, Rose, Morgan, Concepcion, Griffey, Perez, Geronimo, etc. had children and their children had children and they're gonna learn how to play baseball and join the Reds in September?

When you need local businesses to buy up remaining tickets to avoid blackouts and get your sellout, isn't a true sell out. First sentence of the article says "The Cincinnati Bengals have avoided another local television blackout for Sundays home game" seems to me it happens a lot. -
FTR, I've been to every home game, even when they sucked, since 2000, so that bucks the trend, I'm happy to say.
With all due respect to those who say Cincy is nothing but fair weather fans, I think they're just jaded about the poor management of the Bengals for so long. There's a legitimate beef there (especially considering the awesome deal the Bengals have for their stadium [which I concede was voted FOR by the people of the city]). For the Reds, this town has no excuse. Reds are good and folks are showing up.
...and neither team is going all the way. Reds aren't durable enough to contend w/ class of NL, and the Bengals schedule is just too tough. Although, I will say if one team has a slim chance, it's the Reds. They're deep. -
all the fucking time. the tickets get bought up by companies so they can be "sold out" and televised. this was just last year when they were leading the division. shit, didn't ocho even but some tickets one game last year?
