As a reds fan this is why its hard for me to get overly excited about them. Yeah we made the playoffs lets celebrate like we just won the WS even tho we are going to get killed in the first playoff series.

Do they take into account different ballparks? I'm guessing it would be quite a bit easier to keep a baserunner from advancing if you were playing left field at Fenway then it would playing at Coors. As most people in this thread have said, Coors Field has a huge outfield and is notorious for giving up tons of runs. If you have to take playing at Coors into account when analyzing offensive stats, it seems to me that defensive stats would be called into question as well.

I'm not asking this to try and prove a point, I am asking because I don't know. I'll just go back to being a homer and stop pretending I know much about baseball.

To be honest, thats something I am not sure about. I'm not extremely well versed in all the advanced fielding statistics, and exactly how they figure them is something that I do not even have the slightest clue about. I just know what the end result shows.

I will say that upon further examination, he seems to be about league average in CF, but absolutely awful when moved to RF... which seems as if it should be backwards to me lol.

Again, CarGo is having an amazing season and I'm not trying to take anything away from that. I just think he isn't having as good of a year as Votto (who btw, with all the talk of CarGos subpar defensive, is even worse apparently).

Its a step in the right direction. I wouldn't pick them in a series against any of the playoff teams at this point, but baseball is an unpredictable sport and I wouldn't be shocked if they made some noise. They sure as hell better start playing better or they might miss the playoffs altogether though.
