Civilization or Age of the Empires?

    I wanted to buy my kids a game that will teach them a little about history etc. but a game that won't bore them. Which one would you go for? Civ or AOTE?

    I've never played any of them but heard they're both fun.

    age of empires, waco and i used to play the shit out of this, also risk is a winner as well!!! is there a new version of age of empires out?

    Definitely Age of Empires. Age of empires 3 is the latest one out and there are two expansion packs for it. Great game, but age 2 is also great imo.

    AOE for sure. They will get bored more easily with Civ.

    I dont know how much your kids wil learn from either game but AOE was a really fun game.

    i'd say galactic civilizations 2... Something i really like about about killing 40 billion sentients to take a planet.

    Never played Civilization, but I loved AOE years ago... really awesome game. Age of Mythology was my fav, but they were all pretty bad ass.

    How is everyone picking AOE? Civilization 4 is fucking awesome...and i remember hyping the shit outta Civ 2 back in my early grade school days. Taught me a good deal...

    Civilization is the shit. best video game I've ever played. I'd always recommend Civ, but I haven't played age of empires.

    Also, I wouldn't say that I learned a lot directly from Civ, but I love history and the game really got me into reading about the technological advancements and the histories of each of the civilizations in the game.

    Civ IV is ridiculous. I can't stop playing that game. There are so many ways to win on so many different levels. You never play the same game twice.

    There was this game back in the olden days, it was pretty legit.

    You basically had some sort of creature, and a bunch of boxes with numbers in them. Then the computer would tell you to find numbers divisible by 5 for instance, and you needed to get your creature on the boxes with said numbers on them.

    There were also these bad guys that if they touched you they busted a cap in your bitch ass. It was easy but as the game went on the math got harder.

    How to act a tyrant and starve my people culturally for economic gain and the building up of my own military industrial complex. How to take over countries by stealth by spying on them and subverting their cities. How to backstab allies in order to achieve world domination. How to win the science race so I could get the first nukes and blow the shit outta my enemies. etc etc
