    It's been marketed very well so a ton of people will see it and it'll make a lot of money, but it's going to suck -- you heard it here first. The only thing it can possibly be is a letdown because pretty much everybody shares your attitude and thinks it's going to be amazing.

    I would like to mention I was the first one to put the trailer for this movie in OT like 5 months ago when the working title of the movie was still 1/18/2008. .Looks pretty good. If there is a movie theatre near Niagara Falls I'll check it out Saturday night.

    Why? You think because I'm saying it's going to be a letdown it means I automatically dismiss movies or I think I'm better than "monster" flicks or something? Jurassic Park is one of my favourite movies so that couldn't be further from the truth. It's just that in my opinion, which is not better than anybody elses (covering my ass), Cloverfield can't possibly live up to the hype.

    war of the worlds is one of the worst movies I have seen... I was literally angry when it was over, and I just watched it one night on HBO didn't even pay for it... so bad

    TheWacoKidd is right though, this is going to suck hard just like War Of The Worlds. Do you realize that if Tom Cruise wasn't in that movie, like no one would have even mentioned it afterwards, Steven Speilberg or not.

    Lol touche. Well it makes sense. It's getting a ridiculous amount of hype but if you look closer there's really not much there -- Godzilla shot by a handheld camera is essenntially all we're talking about.

    Matt the initial trailer I posted when it first came out made it look really interesting I thought.. If I could find it I would post it..

    EDIT.. Here is the original trailer I saw like 5 months ago.. At the time it looked cool.. Of course with hype that usually fucks up the coolness.. Sigh

    This movie has such a huge following simply because of J.J. Abrams. Whether you're a fan of "Lost" or not, you've got to admit it is the single most creative and original show in television history.

    It's earned Abrams "Genius until proven otherwise" status among Hollywood and his fans. Plus, like Bubba said, it's been marketed brilliantly. It reminds me of an M. Night Shyamalan film in the mystery that's surrounding it.

    (Shyamalan had the same cult status after The Sixth Sense. People wanted to see his movies simply because of him. It didn't matter what the critics said, or what the movie was about. Abrams has that appeal right now.)

    I'll go out on a limb and say this movie will be pretty good. It'll earn an overall "B" grade from the reviews. And that's all I need to see it.
