  1. Rank them:

    Trolling above, pwning below.

I have previously dogged Cobain, but I recently revisited his collection. The dude was raw. And although a mediocre guitarist, he had a syncopation that, while easy to mimic, is tough to match.

We lost a decent amount of good shit that was never created upon his departure.
  2. Vedder > Cornell > Cobain

    Always loved this performance:

  3. that 2nd cobain vid was cringeworthy. one of those guys that is overrated b/c of his death, imo.

what are we rating these guys based on?

I also would not have disputed this a year ago and would agree, but now knowing the dudes physical and mental pain at the time, I think it is a masterpiece.

Yeah all 3 of em are excellent - can't ever see Vedder as 3rd, but tbh it's hard for me to get too upset regardless of rankings
  12. Vedder>Cornell>>Cobain

but it changes based upon my mood and what i want to listen to really...not going wrong with any
  13. Vedder >>>> Cobain >> Cornell
  14. Haven't listened to Soundgarden in forever. Cornell at his best here:

I have always neglected Cornell. I have really been listening to him quite a bit lately. Excellent Zep cover here. Sonically, he can really fill the space by himself:

  17. Best musician: Cornell
    Most important/influential: cobain
    Luckiest: vedder
  18. If we're ranking them based on vocals? I guess vedder. But none of them would make my top 50.

Overall musical talent, then Cobain>>>>. But he probably wouldn't crack my top 20ish.

Not a fan of any of these guys, so I probably should've just stayed out of this topic. But I think they're all overrated by a massive amount for the simple fact that very little good mainstream music was created in the 90's/2k's.

    sorry.

    edit.
And by sorry, I mean it's my opinion, so it's obviously true.

Overall: a whole bunch of people, Cobain, Vedder, Cornell

  19. Cobain always had the coolest voice for me even if he didn't have the range of the other two.
    Cobain > Vedder > Cornell.

Agreeing with ScottBrewr is like banging a fat chick. It's fun for a while but you really hope no one notices. That said, I concur.
  21. man dying really does a lot for making you overrated, holy shit
  22. cornell > cobain > vedder as singers... love cornell's voice. Fuck pearl jam never really understood why people love them so damn much.

as far as historical significance its obviously cobain > vedder > cornell

Nirvana was the biggest band in the world before he died. Not like they started selling albums after.

If anyone is interested, Chuck Klosterman has a really interesting essay in his book "Eating the Dinosaur" which draws parallels between Kurt Cobain and Waco's second most famous resident, David Koresh.

    Holy you suck.

All three of these guys are great.
Had the pleasure of seeing Audio Slave (awhile ago now i guess) and Cornell really put on a great show. They did some Rage songs and it sounded really good. (Rage is def one of my favs)
Saw Pearl Jam too and Vedder live was sooofkn good.
could just be the acoustics at the Mts Centre though.

Like picking between ice cream, Pizza and Spaghetti. I like hip hop.

    edit:
Does anyone from US (outside Cdn) like Gord Downie (Tragically Hip)?
I would put the Hip up against any band I have ever heard.
Maybe you have to be a prairie boy and spend time at the lake, boozing etc and enjoying nature to appreciate.

And I'm a fan of all three

There are ZERO nirvana songs that I dislike... An their unplugged was the most amazing inplugged... Also, how can you hate on a band that started as a CCR cover band?
  30. I remember when I was like 10 I got the Nirvana unplugged casette tape and listened to it on repeat the entire 10 hour road trip to Myrtle Beach for family vacation, fucking loved that tape.

I do enjoy some Pearl Jam, not so much of SoundGarden although I never really gave them much of a chance since I was like 10 years old at the time.

Who's the band that had the weird ass music video that had like a barbie that was being melted throughout, I'm pretty sure that was a SG song, and I remember enjoying it, but again I was pretty young and haven't listened much since.

EDIT- Black Hole Sun, haha I'm an idiot:
