    any of you take notes in class with your labtop? saw a few people doing this in my history class the other day, and it made sense because its a lecture extensive class...does it work for you guys?

    taking notes on your laptop in class is +EV imo

    you have the luxury of being able to take notes, do other work, look up some porn, check facebook etc etc etc...

    its more common in some schools, i kno ppl at UW do it all the time, where i go its not too common (miami of ohio). I'd bring it as long as u aren't the only person w/ a comp in class, b/c if u are, you'll prob look like a douche

    I always find myself not paying attention when I bring my laptop to class. First 15-30 minutes I have perfect notes. The rest of class Ill spend looking up random useless shit online. However it is helpful to have a laptop in small classes where teachers call on students at random. Cause if you forgot to do the reading you can just wikipedia whatever they are asking.

    i did for a while, but i got sick of lugging my laptop around from class to class for 4 hours a day. plus, i always got distracted after 15 minutes of lecturing. i like printing off the PPT slides and just taking notes on those. but most my classes are lectures that use powerpoint so i guess i have that option, not sure if you do.

    I never did, but it always seemed like a good idea, plus if it gets too boring, you can always waste some time doing something online

    I bring my laptop with me to class that have lecture notes, most of my classes are engineering classes and i cant really put all the equations in on the computer. It is definitely a must for classes like biology or classes with lots of notes.

    When I first went to college, labtops weren't so popular, or as accessible as they are now. I probably only ever saw a few people using them. Would have been really nice to have one though, as my hand writing sucks shit, and would have been great for taking really speedy notes. If you've got one to bring to class now, that's obv + EV. Go for it.

    Ive been thinkn about taking mine to class. sucks getting there and realizing you have the wrong powerpoints printed off. I just think it would distract me though. about 5 people in my class have tablet pc's and they seem like they work well. Wish apple had one.

    It also makes it easier to keep notes organized. I just have a folder for every class and save my notes to them, convenient and easier to read than my shitty hand writing.
