I remember being at my friends apt. when columbine happend. Funny thing is Columbine happend 4 days from now 8 years ago. I think it was in 99. Anyway it was on 4/20.
-
^^^^^ 2nded DaVols i also had a engineering friend, but I got ahold of him as he went straight on to AIM at like 11 am
-
At the news conference they say they didn't cancel classes because they thought it was an isolated incident and that the shooter was leaving the state
-
these guys are idiots
"students were already in transit, and at that point it is a matter of where do we keep them the safest, so we kept them in class"
no fuckstick...send them home -
My sister is a VT student and she says that students received an email in the morning in response to the initial shooting in the dorm building. However, the email stated that classes were running as scheduled. If this is true, then the university is responsible for the death of anyone who was killed in the engineering building.
We sure live in a sick fucking world -
Anyone listening to the news conference right now? some of these questions are almost as stupid as the answers..... "Ah were the doors chained from the inside or the outside?.... uh i believe the inside" rly???? "was there any sign of resistence? like if i knew i was going to get shot id tackle the guy or do something" fairly professional question/comment in my opinion. Im listening to this on some local virginia radio station, any other suggestions to where i should tune in?
-
Just read this on the 2p2 post about this. Not sure if its true or not, theres a few students from VT commenting in the thread, not sure if this is one of them or not:
Another story from Tech:
A Campus Crusade member we are in contact with there says he was in a classroom and the man came in. He said he shot the professor 4 times, shot a girl in the neck, then shot a girl in the eye. He then stepped outside the room to reload. When he did that, the guy we know and 20 others ran away. They got away unharmed. Some of the students, however, chose to stay in the room and play dead. Apparently he went back in the room and shot every person on the floor.
Again, this is a story I heard through a friend who has a contact in Crusade at Tech. -
i think there are student organizations asking questions, they obv need more schooling
-
itd be horrible to know someone who was killed in this incident, hope everything works out for them
SUPPOSEDELY, his g/f was cheating on him with engineerging guy, sht her this morning and the 2nd incident was him finding and killing the guy, not sure what set him off to kill all the other people or if this is 100%, but its whats going around right now.....
lol these VT officials or w/e you wanna call them are so caught up right now, everything he just listed as far as security is standard, obv admin building are locked down at end of day and 100's of people have keys, the dorms lock at 10pm and you have to ID card to slide it and open, this has nothing to do with what has been done since the last shooting, lol he has no answer and i think its obv that it was handled terribly, as a lady is saying right now, hope those families get paid off well for all this shit, help fill some of that lost space from their kid -
yeah most of these questions at the newsconference are retarded. That kid from the school newspaper down the road was an idiot.
-
gooooo radford
-
They should end this news conference. They need to stop giving out bad answers to speculative questions, and adding fuel to fire. They should come back tonight when they have a better grasp on the situation.
-
yeah they are really not offering up too much right now be that because they don't know yet or are just not gonna say
-
fucking sad sad shit.
I agree with the one lawyer speaking on cnn, for every second the cops are waiting to act someone else was dying. They all look like they are waiting for someone else to do something. Luckily this guy killed himself, because who knows how long it woulda took for the cops to formulate a plan.
The only video i've ever seen where a cop acts instinctively instead of waiting for back-up and a plan was the video from dimebag darrel's video. That cop came in loaded for bear, found the gun man (holding a hostage) and blew his ass away before the asshole could kill anyone else.
Im not knocking cops, 90% of us wouldnt have the balls to do their job on a normal day, let alone on a day where there is a gunman loose in a school....but i think they need to go back to shoot first and ask questions later.
anyone else find out about 9/11 from howard stern? I was at work and heard everything from stern up until the buildings fell and I made everyone leave for the day. -
that is the problem with law enforcement. Act too soon and make a mistake and you are criticized. Wait the formulate a strategy and get all the facts and you are criticized for reacting too slow.
-
These reporters need to STFU.
they need to realize how a university works...that you can't check every fucking person that comes in and out of a university, you can't lock down and make buildings only open to those who are students, theres 50,000 people doing 1,000,000 different things EVERYDAY...if you have 10,000 CARS coming to your university daily you think they are going to stop every car and check every student and every students bag?
you think that they are going to make 50,000 students walk through X-Ray scanners EVERYDAY!?!!?
Seriously....I don't get why people are bitching about how the campus is run, it's run the same as the other THOUSANDS of Universities worldwide.
Obviously terribly unfortunate incident, but to suggest that it could of been prevented by taking measures that no other institutions impliments is ridiculous...
I fucking hate the media at times like this... -
I agree with you about them not being able to have super security like that... but most people are complaining that they didn't immediately lock down and cancel classes after 2 people died in a dorm room at 730 am (2 hrs prior to the main shooting) and there was an unknown gunman on the loose.
There was piss poor communication and very bad decisions made by officials that led up to this. That's why everyone is coming down on them. -
I love how they kept having to explain how keycards work for getting into dorms and how they sounded suprised that they didn't have these at the classrooms
-
I know i saw the same thing. And besides, you can just piggyback in even if you dont have a card.
-
yeah piggybacking is pretty common
-
This is a sad day, but not like 9-11. Maybe I'm skewed because I was in the pentagon on 9-11. I don't mean to take away from this tragedy, but it doen't seem fitting to compare the two. RIP 32.
-
I understand why, but theres over 100 buildings at VT. To my knowledge they thought the situation was under control in the dorm. They still don't know if the shooter is the same from both incidents. So I'm taking this as, they thought the dorm incident was under control, no need to lock down the whole campus.
If theres a murder in an office they don't shut down 10 city blocks if the situation is under control do they?
Obviously if word comes out and both incidents are proven to be the same shooter, then obviously you have to question why if the shooter was not in custody, did they not lock down the University with a person who ust shot 2 others on the loose. -
redsoxx, how can it be "under control" if you didn't find the killer?!?!?! You have 2 dead people in a dorm room, and a murderer loose on campus, and its "under control." Please explain that to me.
In these cases, especially on a college campus, you always have to assume the worst. If someone gets shot in a school building and the gunman is loose, it's shut down time. Immediately. No question about it. -
They haven't sad anything about this...you are assuming like everyone else that this is the same shooter...
Now theres a 95% chance it is...but there has still been no comformation of this.
for all you know the shooter in incident #1 could have been one of the two causualties from that scene. -
"Though university police Chief Wendell Flinchum said police were still investigating whether the two incidents were related, he also said the gunman at Norris Hall took his own life. Investigators are not ruling out a second shooter, Flinchum said. (Watch the police chief explain where bodies were found
)"
-
Looks like they finally confirmed that the gunman killed himself. I seriously wouldn't doubt it if there was two shooters.
edit: I almost already knew I would get page 3'd. -
That is of nooooooooooooooo consequence. The FACT remains that you have 2 people dead, and a killer on the LOOSE 2 hours before the main shooting. It doesn't matter if it turns out that a second guy did the main shooting, because there is still a murderer loose on your campus.
You NEED to assume the worst and shut down the campus immediately after the first shooting at 730 am. How is this not making sense?
