So, I am coming down to AC the weekend of September 15-16 (Borgata Poker Open etc). I have budgeted $1500 for poker. I plan on playing the $1000+80 on Monday (unless I can get a second day off from work, then I might play the 750 on Tuesday instead). However, by committing to that, I only leave myself another $400 so for Fri-sat-sun poker. I want to get some 1-2 NL action in from the donks, but there's no way if I play the $1000. I'll be resticted to a tourney each day, and being bored.
What would YOU do, OT?
1. Play smaller tourneys Fri-Sun, and commit to the 1K (I really do want to play this)?
2. Use my $1500 for 1-2 NL, planning on building that up, plan on still having at least $1K on Monday, but with the full knowledge that 5 buyins can disappear fast as fuck.
Keep in mind, this isn't a bankroll issue. I would have no problem blowing through the whole stack, which is why I don't mind taking the shot at the 1K. My job is my bankroll.
Oh, and, if you'll be in AC those days, let's get together. -

well since you put it that way,(degenerate) i can comment now. I say go for it....play the 1k tourney and waste entire bankroll on it...since that isnt the issue and you plan on blowing everything you bring, i say play the big one. Since you have more than that, try a satellite to get into the 1k event and if u do win a satellite..you have more booby money. But your whole idea of going there is to play the 1k event right? So dont donk off all your shit on bs games you probably wont try hard at and satellite into the tourney and leave yourself the rest to buy in directly if u cant sat in.
And another thing
GTMFFO with this bullshit thread....if u cant figure out what the fuck to do...then dont play any fuckin thing and waste your money on fuckin BJ, blow, and hookers....

I'm mainly going to go home, visit friends, maybe see some OTers, and play the 1K, sure... but the 1/2 games are just SO SOFT... and I can go play with a couple friends and have fun with them instead of playing the same tourney and being on opposite sides of the room.
I also hate satellites with every fiber of my being, but that's just me. -

Secondly.. I remember u posted something the other day about spendin dollars because the next day they could be useless or whatever. Play the 1k man, u know u got the skills to beat it. Just play the 1k, and if u lose then ya well play some 200 max.

Go to the Trop or Harrahs & the play the 1-2NL games & clean those fuckers out. Than go register for the tourney.

play the tourney. i played a 1k there last year and was suprised at how donkish the field was.
where in south jersey did you live? i have an apartment in glassboro, like half an hour from ac. def down to get some drinks when you guys make it this way.

I grew up in Hammonton, only moved in 2005 to take this job in Boston. I definiteil still consider it home.
Definitely think I am leaning toward the tourney at this point. In unrelated news, I hate money.
I'd definitely be up for some drinks somewhere.

I'd play the 1-2NL. Just play tight as hell and you should be able to make a decent amount of cash and still take your tourney on Monday. 1-2 lives games are so juicy to turn down...especially when you have enuf time there IMO

Oh, I know. I lived off of Atlantic City 1-2 no limit for about 6 months in '04. I also know that, even against donkeyfish, 5 buy-ins ain't exactly a secure bankroll :-)

you're taking a trip to AC...don't worry about bankroll management. You'll do fine in the 1/2 game either way.
But I agree you should play in the tourney, since that's what you really want to do. You have one $300 buy-in...if you don't like the table, then get up and do something else.

(Although, when incredibly drunk, I have been known to donk off a couple hundred playing Let it Ride, I think because I know it's so -EV that it's like I'm mocking myself. Have I mentioned how much I hate money?) -
