For the computer guys/gals out there... I have a computer that has facebook games continually running on it. Sometimes the screen is closed and the games continue to run heating up the computer... for some reason the facebook games played do not allow the computer to shut down normally and go into sleep mode. Well the computer now has a black screen...

Could this potentially burn out the laptop screen and ruin the laptop? Could the black screen be fixed?
I appreciate any help.

Bump - Little Help?

Screens cost about 100$ adnd are easily replaced.
-
Pull the battery out and then boot the computer back up.
If the screen is still black then your up the creek. Go buy a new one and when you do take your old one in and have them move your data to the new one. If they tell ya that will cost money tell them to blow goats and go somewhere else to purchase your new laptop.
I doubt the browser your using to play facebook games is the cause of your issue.
What it the exact model of your laptop so i can suggest more. -
It is a relatively easy fix.. not extremely expensive.

And like King said... cooling fan is a life saving if you leave a laptop on for long durations.
EDIT: as far as ruining the laptop. like I stated above.. cooling fans are life savers.. heat is a computers worst enemy next to water and electricity. -
turn off the facebook games next time?

I gave in and went to Best Buy where we purchased the machine and they said the most likely issue is the motherboard is burned out. It is an HP Pavilion dv7 Entertainment PC . The Geek Squad member said that computers are currently being made to last right around 2 years... it will be two years old this April so I am guessing I'm out of luck.
I appreciate the help. -
Unless you have a defective nvidia chip, GPU's and laptops in general should last much, much longer than 2 years.
-
Did he put on a tin foil hat before he said that? Best Buy sells a veritable shit ton of laptops if they had a 2 year killswitch there would be a tidal wave of repairs coming in and an internet full of pissed off customers. HP's are crap lately, tho. Buy Toshiba or Asus.

GFY
As for those that have helped. We have youtube'd repair videos and came up with this link... we are currently trying to fix.
