I want to put a new hard drive in my laptop. It is a HP about 4 years old (not sure the make and model since I'm at work right now)
1. Where can I buy one?
2. Can I do it myself if I'm not a complete idiot?
3. How do I put an operating system on it without dropping big $$$ ? -

as a side topic on computers, mine has just decided to stop making any sound.
it;'s off mute. i've tried with head phones. i've checked the drivers and they're all apparently working fine.
isn;'t it brilliant when things stop working with no logical explanation.
i've just added bobby pickett's 'monster mash' to my myspace profile. so it's sort of an emergency. -

Ye, if the sound card driver crashes, the best way to restart it is to reboot the OS.

someone please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
sounds like the driver is messed up.
1) Right click on the "My Computer Icon on your desktop
2) Choose Hardware Tab
3) Choose Device Manager
4) If your sound card driver is messed up, usually the tree will expand the tree and show it as an issue.
5) Right click on the sound driver, Choose Properties
6) Choose Update Driver.
