-
Why??

I'm obviously not a basketball fan, but he went to my HS so I'm interested for obvious reasons. -
What's up with Kwahi Leonard from SDSU? Anyone know?

."Nothing has changed," Torrel Harris said. "Even if Bruce Pearl still had his job, we'd go through this process. We're going to test the waters and on May 8th, make our decision. He's got to be a lottery pick, or at least top 15 in the country, to definitely go pro. You also have to see whom Tennessee will bring in as coach. You want to talk with the athletic director at Tennessee to see if there will be any kind of postseason ban on the school. You have to take all of that into consideration."

Anyone have any idea where Marshon Brooks from Providence will go?
-
ummmm, go back and play in the NIT or be a top 5-10 pick

I am shocked to see him coming back. He was suspended for whatever he received.

Dont think this deserves its own thread, but pretty interesting any how.
Two former University of San Diego basketball players and a former assistant coach have been indicted on allegations of participating in a point-shaving ring to rake in bundles of money on sports gambling. The indictment was unsealed by the U.S. Attorney's office this morning (April 11). Former USD player Brandon Johnson was charged with taking a bribe to influence the outcome of a USD game in February of last year. According to the indictment, in February of this year, former USD player Brandon Dowdy solicited an individual to affect the outcome of a game for a monetary bribe. Allegedly, former assistant coach Thaddeus Brown and Dowdy discussed soliciting an individual to affect the outcome of a basketball game for a monetary bribe. According to the indictment, ten people, including the three formerly attached to USD, participated in the scheme to make money gambling on games. They were also charged with distributing marijuana. The other defendants are Steve Warda "Shazy" Goria, Paul Joseph "Weenie" Thweni, Richard Francis "Bird" Garmo, Richard "Slick Rick" Thweni, David "Big Dave" Gates, Lillian Goria, and Jake Salter. -
Still waiting on something like that to come out on JJ Redick

Figured you'd like the news
Kemba declaring no shock since he graduates in may. -
I know you are looking for a reaction, but I'll give you one anyways...

[ ] knows who top 5 recruit Quincy Miller is
[ ] knows about us picking up the #1 JUCO PG recruit to shore up the PG problem
[ ] knows about the chemistry problems, lack of leadership and distraction issues Dunn caused. not to mention the fact that PJ3 deferred to Dunn on the court
a trip valued at about $500 to a Cowboys preseason game. his mom got 3 $1200 loans to pay rent and paid them all back. both "benefits" were provided by an AAU coach that knew Perry and family before he even played basketball (he was in 6th grade and wanted to be a QB)Originally Posted by JBurdan23

the NCAA just like to make an example out of the private schools while letting their cash cows off the hook. they are basically saying "look, we are punishing ppl!"
the uneven rulings and punishments truly are a joke... please tell me why OSU players got to play in their bowl game and Perry was suspended on the day of the Big 12 tournament (even tho they questioned him back in Nov)
here is a short piece you can read to clear things up, from the NYT: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/09/op...cera.html?_r=2 -
fyp, is there confirmation of him coming back...all i'm seeing is rumors....anyhow, the cieling for Barnes is unlimited, like Kobe unlimited, especially after he has shown how clutch he can be, IMHO he will make the single biggest jump in skill level from his Freshman to Sophomore year that college bball has seen in a long time

Glad he was allowed to pay it back, I never read or saw what he got that he was suspended for. And the reason the scum bags at OSU were allowed to play was one thing and one thing only money, OSU brings money baylor doesn't. But Baylor is shaping up to have a very good team next year with PJ and Miller. -

not to mention Quincy Acy and Anthony Jones' senior years and Cory Jefferson coming off a redshirt year where he added 20 lbs of muscle - the frontcourt is just silly. if this 1st team AA JUCO PG Pierre Thomas is as good as he looks on the brief bit of film I have seen, we could be special. we had bigtime issues at PG last year and a ballhog SG that needed a PG to set him up. had only one guard off the bench, a FR PG who was wild, and he got hurt for 6 weeks. needless to say, the guard play was abysmal. we have the type of posts players that can be dominant with someone to get them the ball in the right spots
we have a couple other guard transfers coming in. Brady Heslip (Canadian kid from B.C., sharshooter) is now eligible after sitting a year and Gary Franklin (combo guard from Cal) will be eligible after fall semester. we will be deep at guard, but still tons of questions. -

the $500 is what I was talking about, the 3 payments his mom received to pay her rent before he was even in college is a joke that the ncaa would come down on that. -
lockoutaments!

Baylor Shaping up to have a good run in the B12 next year. Jones is awesome and will still be a top 7 pick in a year especially if he brings his game up a level or two.
Harrison barnes comming back to UNC would be the sickest thing ever and GG ACC and would be a serious contender for a trip to NO next yr. Although we have have too many players -
Harrison Barnes is 99% coming back he said before he got to UNC he wanted to leave his mark on the program and wanted to graduate in 3 years. UNC is the clear cut favorite with Barnes add in James McAdoo(spelling?).

should be some great games OSU vs Baylor this year, OSU lit up the signings with Nash and top Juco transfer Karron Johnson. -
yep, that's why he is staying.
Baylor basketball = family
