For all the OT'ers who went to law school, is Constitutional law really complex? I have to re-read cases at least 2-3 times just to have a general sense of what's going on. And in class our professor pretty much asks these open-ended questions about the Supreme Court's extension of power, and whether or not the Constitution should be interpreted in this way. I guess my question is does it get any easier or will the course be one giant cluster fuck?

It will probably stay a relative cluster fuck for you. I considered Con Law to be much more open to interpretation, I guess, than the other 1L classes. While nothing is close to being black-and-white (kind of the whole point, especially 1st year), Con Law is probably the closest to pure gray, IMO. If I remember correctly, I think it will get a little better after you start getting into the more specific areas of what the government can/cannot do and away from why they can do it.
I think that in general, people that are more practical or analytical in their thinking would be less inclined to like Con Law, while those that are more theoretical or intuitive would enjoy it more.

I actually really like it, as long as I'm not reading an opinion written by Justice Marshall, or Justice Fuckface, as I like to call him, haha (John, not Thurgood). Reading anything written by him makes me feel as though English is my seventh language (even though it's my first and only
). As the cases become more recent, the course becomes easier, imo.

Thanks a lot for the answers ya'll. I'll just keep plugging away and pray that it becomes easier/less boring!

The fiancee who just passed the bar said to get the Con law horn book, by Chemerinsky. It basically can be substituted for the case book. It is Con law written in plain language.
Chemerinsky, not to be confused with Chaz. Con law as to Constitutional law, not to be confused with con as in scamming/chazzing. -
^^lol
