    that's correct - pawn on b5 takes c4. i'm using the more modern notation. i can find you a link if you want...its the same system winboard uses.

    no need. thank you though. do you have winboard? the chess engines that come with it are fucking IMPOSSIBLE to beat.

    i used to use winboard. i use a mac these days, i downloaded Sigma Chess w/ HIARCS engine.

    generally speaking, engines >>>>>>> us.

    edit: for the record, i'm not using HIARCS at all to make my moves, as I said before.

    I didn't stay a USCF member long enough for my rating to stabilize. I think I was in the 1600 range - nothing to write home about.

    I still play for fun, but have not opened a book or studied a game in 13 years. I sat 1470 back then in my club rankings. I never played enough ranked tourneys to get a set rating either.
