  1. SEOUL (Reuters Life!) - Thursday was not a good day to be a dog in South Korea. That's because it was one of the three hottest days according to the Korean lunar calendar -- and dog soup is one way to beat the heat.

Just wondering if you could bring yourself to eat a dog? Would it matter what breed it was? If you say yes, could you eat a beloved dog like a golden retriever or collie? I think I would have to be completely out of other options before I could eat man's best friend.

  3. Is dog tasty?
  4. according to my father it's stringy and tastes like pork.
  5. No. I think I'd rather starve first.
  6. yes.
  7. in a heart beat. Put that baby in the smoker. 14 hrs later have pulled dog sammiches.

    Braised dog it is.
  9. if I was hungry enough? OF course. By choice? Probably not. I don't have anything special against eating dog, like I wouldn't feel gross about it or anything. Same thing with eating a rat or a squirrel or some other nasty animal. If I was hungry enough, I'd cook that shit up and "dog" the shit out of it.

  14. We can't just eat the ugly or stupid animals, we need to eat the cute and smart ones as well.

  15. I've been around. Had to take a little break for awhile :) Glad to be back! I've never been in the situation where it was either starve or eat something nasty, so who knows? I hope I never have to find out if I'd eat dog/human/horse/cat, etc... lol
  16. I would eat AMARTIN's dog but not many people would eat their own dog, to some it would be like eating their little brother...

id actually go squirrel huntin' instead.. swamp people make it seem like a decent meal...

My grandparents used to eat squirrel. They always tried to get me to try it--"it tastes like chicken". Uhm, no thanks! I'm not that hard up for something to eat. Ugh.
  18. Why not? I wont eat my own dog, but i would eat dog meat if it taste good. If they sold it in stores i would buy it just to try it. Its just another animal.

No, I don't think most southern people nowadays eat that crap. My grandparents are/were old, Depression-era, poor southern folks who didn't have much choice but to eat what they could get their hands on. I guess they just developed a taste for it, even after things improved for them financially. The rest of us are just as spoiled as everyone else in the country in terms of what we eat for the most part now :) I keep hearing about this Swamp People show. I'm gonna have to check that out!

**Oh, and no bayou people in my family that I'm aware of. Both sides of the family has been in NC/VA area since like the 1600's.

  27. it's on the bucket list.
  28. i would think dog would be akin to goat meat. cooked right it would be great. would i eat my own dog?- depends on what particular animal shit she has rolled in that day. would i eat farm raised, organic, happy dog?-very yes. at least twice. also squirrel is extremely tasty-that is why there is no more squirrel on the nasty barnhold. food is what you make of it.
  29. Sure. No problem
  30. It depends on what the dog ate.

I'm not eating a dog that ate anything without Chicken or Lamb as the first ingredient.
