  1. So I am getting a new monitor today. I was just going to hook it up to my laptop until I can get a new desktop which just seems too easy. What do I need to know? Any extras that I need to pick up? Video Card? Cables?

I currently just use a 3 year old gateway laptop with a built in mobile intel 945gm express chipset controller and am unsure if the new monitor will be compatible without a new vid card? or will be compatible but with ****ty resolution? Also do I need to worry about getting 1920 x 1200 if just hooking it up to older laptop?

Any of you had to deal with this? Any info is helpful.......tx

  2. Since its a new monitor hooking up to an old laptop, you may need a vga --> hdmi adaptor but that should be it in terms of getting it working.
Resolution will depend on your video card, though.
  3. do you have a db connector on ur laptop? If so ur laptop should have the ability to run a dual screen setup. I've run 2 monitors on my dell w/vista and my tosh w/win7. Both were EXTREMELY easy to do: hook up monitor then hit win key+P or control panel>screen resolution.

Let me know if u have any problems, kinda doubt you will, Good Luck.
  4. Or typically on laptops its the FN key + F4 or F8

    It varies on manufacturer
