Title says it all, Ima Craigslist noob. Im selling an old truck I have on Craigslist. I cant decide wtf is going on here. I live in Arkansas and the phone number she included has an area code from Seattle. It would pretty much cost as much as the truck is worth just to transport it accross the country. Is there any way I could get scammed If I give her this info or she sends me some kinda bunk check? Something just seems wayyyaaaay fishy about this whole deal. Below is the email she sent me.

Certified Check and i will arrange for a local pick up as soon as you
get the payment, . I really wish to be there to check out the item but
due to my work frame i can not be able to get there , am very busy

-
def fishy... have you spoken to this bish over the phone? If not, do so before making any progress.
-
Guys, this is 100% a scam. There are people that respond to every single message with this exact same thing. Just delete the emails.

I have been listing on there over the past few months and within listing I get 1-2 of these each time.
The adding $50 to remove the item from the list is the tipper, who actually offers to do that on craigslist? And EVERY time I have posted that is always in the bottom of the email. -
Im just trying to figure out how Ima get scammed, if I remain in possession of the truck and title to said truck? By giving her my name and address shes gona haxor my life or wha?
-
I would imagine they try to do something with that info or somehow say that it doesn't work with that way of payment and then they will a bank account number, who knows, I just know there is no way this is an actual person wanting to buy your truck, go ahead and go with it though if you are bored.

Who the fuck buys a truck without even seeing the thing or taking a test drive? -
def 100% scam, run away, run far away
-
Yes agreed with all of that. I should note that I was emailed earlier by this person for more pictures of the vehicle. I mean even if they didnt want to drive it, you would want to verify it at least runs. I assumed it was some kinda scam, I just didnt know how since they only wanted my name and address.

my friend listed a computer for $300, they shipped him a $3000 check. he was like wtf you guys sent too much. they said sorry, go cash it and keep $50 for your troubles and ship the rest of the cash back with the computer. few days after that the bank told friend it was a bad check, he was fully responsible for paying back the whole $3000

They can attempt to use your info to seek a replacement title or create a salvage title. Or, given your car's make and model, they can go phishing for the license plate to put on a similar car they have. A tip is to delete anything that comes in such a formal form. Normal people(real) don't do that shit.

Scam.

I happened to open that thread in its infancy, and I laughed so hard at that part. I knew it would stick on there (2p2 for anyone wondering) -
hahahaha. nice to know the nigerian economy is still booming.
OP, you gonna get raped tho. but good luck. im sure its just a really enthusiastic craiglist buyer that cant wait to get their hands on your rare truck, and willing to pay a high premium for it. sounds legit
also, who the fuck talks like this? how can you not realize this is fake -
Zero chance that isn't a scam
-
If this thread isn't level op is one dumb fucker
-
no doubt. to make matters worse, he was a poor college kid. he also shipped the full $2700 instead of keeping $50 because he thought it was the right thing to do. since he couldn't pay, the bank had to put him on a 2 or 3 year payment plan lol. complete ownage
-
wow. stupid and honorable. not a good combo to get ahead in this world
-
loooooooool the check scam is like the oldest thing in the book how the faack did he fall for it
-
