  1. Time for the Cubs to start from scratch and perhaps finally build a contender instead of wasting money on overpriced unwanted veterans.
  2. With this news I really do think next year is our year. Finally got rid of the baggage and we can focus on next season now!
  3. Just heard the Cubs record with him in charge: 749-748.

At least he went out a winner.

  4. He should have been fired based on the Milton Bradley signing alone
  5. Its a tough job for sure. You go in thinking build from within, but with money to spend like a big market team, you almost have to spend money. Add on top the pressure of a huge fan base that has gone forever since winning a championship and a relentless media, equals potentially one of the hardest jobs in baseball.

FWIW, I would willingly take a couple more years of struggling if the team was built the right way. I would love Pujols on the Cubs but honestly feel like it would hinder their long term development rather than help. You add Pujols or any other high profile player, you are forced to try and compliment that person with someone equally as expensive and potentially with baggage that they need to avoid (Bradley, Zambrano)

Here's to a slow and steady climb up the hill!

  6. Pujols ain't signing with the cubs, he has a brain.
  7. the Cubs should trade Castro while he's still worth something, and use those prospects to field a winner by 2014

  9. i hope the cubs get someone shitty to replace him

    BARTMANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
  10. has he had a good signing?

the only signings associated w/ him were awful.
  11. Starting from scratch is costly and time-consuming. Cubs should just request change to being an AA level farm team. Instant win, no muss, no fuss. Maybe AAA by the end of the decade if things really go well.
  12. 5-6 years too late
  13. I was going to say that with him now gone, it makes Ned Colletti the worst GM in the game...but I think that Colletti already had that title.
  14. It's about time this happened. So glad now that we have a better chance (up to .00475% chance) to win a WS in the next decade.

    now please ax Quade.
  15. Gillick could save this franchise.
  16. Fukudome, Hill, Ramirez, Samarja, Soriano, Barrett, Wood, Lee, Zambrano and on and on. I wouldn't trade a bag of ball for these underachievers.
  17. I've been saying that the Cubs needed to get rid of Hendry for 3 years now. With that said, he has made a number of good signings and I don't think he was a bad GM. He constantly made moves that were necessary to make at the time and most people agreed w/ to turn out to be a complete disaster. I can't fault him for that. The Cubs had the best team in baseball in 2008 and went 3 and out vs. the Dodgers...he put that team together its not his fault they completely laid the fuck down like a bunch of pussies just like 2003.

The thing that nobody realizes and fails to mention is how terrible the Cubs are at producing talent from the minors. They have always had these 'can't miss' guys in the minors that come up and make brief stints and they fuck with them and sendem back down or platoon them and they never pan out to live up to their hype cuz they're so mentally fucked up (Corey Patterson, Felix Pie...now what they did with Colvin this year is totally fucking ridiculous)

Rebuilding is never in the Cubs gameplan and thats why they will never be a serious contender. Quade needs to be fired as well and they need to start over and rebuild for 2-3 years.
