  1. Agree with most of Bullets' post above . . . depending on the line, I would lay the $$$ on GSP.
  2. i would expect nothing less than a test from condit. the guy hasnt lost since 2006, and he even stopped rory mcdonald in the dying seconds of the final round who has a very similar set of skills to st pierre. also, out of his 28 wins, he has 26 stoppages which is pretty crazy. i'd venture to say that condit is the most legit guy st pierre has fought since 2004 matt hughes

the guy lost the fight against Diaz, it just didn't get scored that way

shut the fuck up plz, ty. Not saying he has some titanic iron jaw but to say he's a glass jaw is a credibility ruiner imo.

Go watch the first BJ Penn fight again. He completely tooled GSP on the feet that first round and turned his face into hamburger. Penn has great striking but is not on par with Silva by any means. GSP doesn't have a glass chin but is very vulnerable on his feet and I see him having trouble getting Silva down.
  6. come on man, that was 2006. since then gsp has worked with freddie roach and is considered one of the top boxers in mma. obviously his striking is not on par with silvas. nobody has striking on par with silva

Rory took the first two rounds off Condit, and don't kid yourself, Rory is not GSP yet. GSP is still miles ahead. Condit has always had mediocre wrestling, he's going to get mauled if St. Pierre is unaffected by the injury. St. Pierre is effectively unbeatable at 170 pounds unless he's really lost something as a result of the injury. There is no one capable of stopping his wrestling, and anyone who poses a threat on the ground is a far worse striker.

St. Pierre is likely to be very rusty, but the fact Condit didn't walk right through Diaz (and arguably lost, though I had Condit winning) is a major flag for me that Condit is about to get wrecked. I'd suspect we see another 50-45 smothering, convincing performance from the champ before the hype for Silva/GSP @ 180 pounds begins.
  8. yep, rory was definitly winning the fight against condit, pierre beat dan hardy but couldnt stop him, condit knocked hardy out. anderson silva doesnt have good wrestling either, but that hasnt stopped him from being legend. the only x factor is probably the fact st pierre has a very high success rate on takedown attempts, but in the last few years he's certainly had his takedowns neutralized to a degree. Condit has greg jackson as well, so you know he's gonna have some retardedly scientific game plan to deal with whatever st pierre brings. I'm scared, though I'm always nervous when my favorite guys fight especially guys on long win streaks in a sport where one punch can end it all. as far as rory goes, I think his ground game is surpassing georges. he's ferocious when he takes guys down and ends fights whereas pierre is more about controlling

St. Pierre trains with Greg Jackson too, I believe Greg Jackson has already said he's sitting this fight out. St. Pierre will be fighting with Firas Zahabi, I think Condit said Mike Winkeljohn (Jackson MMA Striking Coach) will be his main coach.

I think your assessment of Rory Mac's and GSP's skill level are skewed by level of competition. St. Pierre has been fighting the best of the best, MacDonald has not. You don't think GSP would slam and finish Che Mills in ferocious fashion? Nate Diaz? GSP would tool all these guys Rory has been tooling. Rory doesn't have the takedowns, top control, or guard passes of St. Pierre. I think the one place you could make a case, is Rory has more punching power with his ground and pound, but again, St. Pierre was merking people like Sean Sherk as well when he was climbing to the title. There is a big difference between doing it to fringe top 10-15 guys and doing it versus the #1 contender. That being said, I think Rory is a stud and will be champion when St. Pierre leaves the division, in fact, I believe both have an agreement in place considering they've said they'll never fight one another. I'm guessing St. Pierre leaves the division in the next year or two, and Rory MacDonald takes the title and carries the torch in the 170 pound division.
