Today one of my best friend was sentenced to 7 years in prison for making poor decisions. He's being taken away from his wife, his 2 year old son and his retired mom(he ran a family business). He will also miss the birth of his 2nd son, this November.
Just wanted to stress the importance of decision making to all you younger OTers. In life, you can't just re-register for a new tourney or rebuy. You make a bad decision and it can haunt you the rest of your life.
I can't imagine my kids waking up and not having me be there for them. I don't think I've ever cried for a friend, especially the way I did today -
if you can't do the time....

life aint no joke

Dont tell us........ lets guess.
Imma go w/ manslaughter......... accidently killed a hooker. -
dealing large amounts of coke was my guess, with manslaughter a close second

Sorry to hear :( my best friend in the world is in rehab right now (court-ordered) I can only hope she makes the right decision for herself - I can't make the decision for her (wish to "god" I could) best of luck to your friend on the other side

Long story about why he's in prison now.
Cliffs
-had grow house(maybe had more)
-was being robbed by lawnmowing company at a house
-DECIDED to pull over crew after mowing a house, beat them up with a weapon. took wallets and phones and threw in the field(armed robbery now)
-Pled guilty to 2 class x felonies(armed robbery and manufacturing of cannabis) -
At least the title fits

Yeah, my buddy was on kind of a bad streak. For a couple of years, it was like, "What's the worst decision I can make?" And that's what he went with. The last few years he and I haven't been as tight as we were for a long time before that. He probably got sick of listening to me tell him what to do or how to handle things
-
THANK God for OP.
I had my baseball bat and I was just gonna pay a visit to a McDonalds crew who I think overcharged me for a Big Mac when I saw this thread. This thread saved me lots of prison rape. TY! -
He's going to serve 3 years max(if he behaves, he has a pretty bad temper). He could serve as little as 2 to 2.5 years, depending on programs in prison. He has a college degree and I guess there's tutoring programs, not to mention other jobs, he can do, to get extra time off, from what I understand. Others here I'm sure know better then I do.

Nah, that dude also got busted for a grow house, but got a slap on the wrist. As for the friend in OP, I'd like to say he's learned his lesson. But, I know better. He's going to say "I only got busted cause I was stupid and beat someone up, again." So, he will go back to growing, even though he doesn't need to. But, hes really fucked if he gets busted again. So I reallllly hope he's learned his lesson. He was a Div.1 DE in college and could've played in the NFL. But, SR year, he got kicked off the team(and school), before the season, for beating a couple of guys up(they started it, but he finished it). So, he obviously hasn't learned his lesson that, you can't beat people up, just because you are bigger(and meaner)

Bad decisions are one thing. Being totally fucking retarded is another. Maybe, he'll learn from this though.

Yes, he's been totally retarded for a couple years. Got a little out of control and started cheating on his wife too. He got caught for that, just before he got caught by the police 2 years ago for this. As I said, the last 3-4 years, we haven't been as close as we were, mainly cause he was pretty reckless and I didn't approve and would tell him so. He only wanted "yes" people around -
good luck to your friend. he's lucky to have real friends like you that actually care for the real person.
from what i've read it sounds like your friend has really lent himself to the criminal mentality. in the mind of a criminal, thats what you gotta do. someone steals your shit you have to step up and take action. unfortunatly, prison can accelerate that mindset in some people and when they come out its worse than when they went in.
hopefully he does some soul searching or something changes his way of thinking. -
The bad decision is having a lawn care service mowing the lawn of a grow house.

i love smoking weed, but stories like that remind me why i never wanted to be a grower or dealer.
