Over the past couple years I have seen many people overpay for Dell machines. I keep up with their site fairly regularly (nice hobby huh) and if anyone is interested, I can always post their best deals on here. I guess these online guys like to have the best of the best.
I get most deals from www.slickdeals.net which are posted on their mainpage. Saving $200-500 is no different than winning it...or consider your next couple $100 buyins as freerolls :) -
Slick Deals Rules. Got a great price on a Dell laptop. Hell, Dell has amazing Deals everyday.

i keep an eye on gottadeal.com too. I got my desktop and digi-camera for a steal. You just gotta wait for the right coupons.

Hey Dirk,
I posted a thread asking questions on getting a pc for poker and web browsing. the jist of it is I know squat about computers but want to set up a pc (I have a mac laptop now) and have it capable of multitabling cash games. I have to be some what frugal, but was kicking around the idea of getting a laptop with about a 15" monitor and maybe getting a seperate monitor if needeed to multi table. I don't know what things need to be upgraded like memory/processor/hard drive. If you could help me I would be stoked.
Thank you Sir

That 20.1" ViewSonic looks like a deal. N8 or anybody have any comments on that?
-
The 20.1" Viewsonic I saw on slickdeals.net was model # VX2025wm. Don't get this one, the max resolution is 1680-1050, you won't be able to 4 table with no overlap.

I just purchased Dell's 24" widescreen LCD...it's in the mail, can't wait!!!
-
I bought a Dell 20.1" 2007FP yesterday for $398 shipped. Is that a good deal or can it be found cheaper??? kinda late now, but ill know in the future I guess.

f dell buy hp/compaq
-
I will go ahead and layout roundabout prices and specs and general idea of what each spec does...
Typical Configuration:
1. Dell 15 Inch Screen
2. 512 MB of Ram (this is memory for multitasking. 512 is plenty for multitabling as many as you need)
3. 80 GB hard drive (no need to get more than 40 GB unless its cheap or included because portable hard drives are the way to go)
4. WIFI Card (Get the cheapest one built in; this allows internet access wirelessly where a router is)
5. 1.66 GHZ Processor (I honestly dont know much difference in this area, but it is basically the engine. Mine has 1.4 GHZ and is as fast as I need for 3-4 tabling, and burning, listening to music)
The above configuration is worth not much more than $600 shipped. Another reason not to buy one from them that is loaded is because you can upgrade your 512MB of ram to 2GB of ram in a year or so for probably under $50. Places have insane deals on all laptop parts and most are about as simple to put in as hooking up a DVD player to a TV.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to get the 17 inch screen plan on spending around $900 total.
For desktops, you can save big $$. I just saw a desktop AND a 19" LCD flat panel on Dell's site for $314 shipped to your door. It had the same specs as the laptop above. No reason to spend anymore than that unless you are a gamer and need a serious computer.
Hope this helps everyone looking to buy a laptop/desktop. Dell can be sneaky so make sure not to get upsold on any of their warranty/specs. Double and triplecheck your cart to see if you can subtract out specs to save $$ because they will add a lot of those in that you dont even need.
Just check WWW.SLICKDEALS.NET for all recent deals and feel free to PM or email me to make sure it's a worthwhile deal. I dont get on here daily, so if time is an issue drop me an email: dirkdaddy@gmail.com
