    I have been busy with work for quite some time and just watched this movie and it was pathetic. The movie did nothing but drag on and on and on. Horrible accents, horrible acting and overall a horrible production. There was no twists, everything was predictable. I'm so dissapointed. That is my rant for the night. Did nobody see any good movies last year?? This is what won movie of the year?? Pathetic. That is all and hello everyone. NP is still gay.

    lol, my high school drama club put up a more interesting film. I had to force myself to stay awake and I see a lot of movies.

    wayyyyy over done waco. I'm still watching it but have lost interest several times during the movie. The ending better be frickin fantastic or this was really dissapointing.

    lol you haven't even finished it yet. it's not the best movie ever but it's definitely better than 95% of the bullshit that comes out of hollywood nowadays.

    Matt Damon did in fact seem to overplay the Boston accent. Leo sounded more realistic than him.

    Alright, I was very very dissapointed until the ending. The ending was good, movie overall OK. Definitely not picture of the year. Accents were way over done, if you don't think so you haven't been to Boston then. I will give it 3 of 5 stars but definitey not picture of the year. Doesn't 300 come out tomorrow, I'm excited.

    I'm from Boston and I thought Damon's accent was too much....He's from Boston and it seems like he tried to overdo it,,,,,I thought the movie was good but not Scorcese's best.

    It isn't the best movie ever, and hardly the best Scorsese, but calling The Departed a "pathetic" movie is a pretty big criticism.

    I mean, Marty is one of America's best directors, and he put a lot of work into this movie; that alone moves it out of the realm of pathetic. Second is the extremely talented cast and the very good script. I think the accent claim is a preference thing, and I'm almost positive MOST people didn't have a problem with it. Third is thhe pacing of the film -- it FLEW by for me. Like I said, it's fine if you didn't like it, but pathetic is way off base here.

    I grew up North of Boston, my family is from Boston. I have spent a lot of time in an around Boston and I will say the accents were heavy, but not over exaggerrated. I thought the acting was unbelievable. I will also say not Scorcese's best, but his best is some of the best movies ever, so its rather hard to compare. It would be like knocking Lucas because Indiana Jones was good, but its no Star Wars.

    in the first scene of the movie, Jack had a real thick accent, which seemed to disappear...about my only criticism with the movie.

    DiCaprio stole the show

    probably not the best film of the year, but a 'gimme' to martin for his past efforts, and for making a really great movie

    I loved Zodiac - go check out my review of it. I gave it an 8.5 and The Departed a 9, so they aren't very far apart, IMO.

    keep in mind it was a southie accent which is a little more exaggerated in general, imo. ive spent alot of time in boston as my parents are from there and all my relatives are there. the few southie relatives i have all sound more overdone than the other relatives spread all over there.

    just my opinion.

    in the movie though i never focused on them over doing it but like to focus on people with NO accents more. plz, you cant help but get one going if you live there.

    btw i LOVE that accent and the movie KICKED ASS.

    maybe you dont like it because you are surfing the interweb and posting instead of watching? its one of those watch every detail movies.
