i like DRose and think he should be the MVP
BUT
in Oscar Robertson's second season in the NBA at 23 years old he averaged 30.8 pts, 11.4 asts and 12.5 rebs
suck it. -
Not rigged if Rose doesn't win, I'd vote for Rose, Howard or Durant, but it's pretty clear Lebron doesn't deserve it after the last few weeks.
-
Yes, of course he is. If his career ended today he would be immediately enshrined in the HOF where they would go so far as to remove Magic Johnson, John Stockton, Bob Cousy, Gary Payton, and KJ. His career work is so amazing I think GOAT is an understatement.

Best of all time? Hell No! He isn't even the best guard the bulls ever had. MJ was a better guard. Heres my homer statement, Rondo>rose.
-
I think Dwight's having a beast year and would get it if not for Rose having an even better one... but I also think it's messed up that Howard is considered 2nd and Kevin Love gets no mention at all despite averaging 21/16 a night, shooting 85% from the FT line (can't hack him) and 42% from 3... AND doing it on less minutes a night (lol at dwight ever shooting a 3 or spreading the floor with his range). Minn only has 17 wins but if u swap out Love's beast mode games for a replacement player they'd be lucky to have 7. It's just a dumb unwritten rule that MVP has to come from a winning team. This would be a more interesting argument if it weren't just a battle for 2nd place.
-
Howard is a lot more valuable than love, and loves team blows chunks.
Also seems like you forgot about one side of the floor -
5 years from now, we will be able to say that D Rose is the best 'lead guard' ever. By lead guard, I mean someone who begins the offense by looking for his own offense and then his teammates second. This is not a slam on him. He has to with the team that he plays with. Right now, AI is #1 but D Rose will pass him because his teammates are better than AI's. Maravich is number 2 on that list. I never saw him play, but I trust Bill Simmons and other knowledgeable basketball people on this. Tiny would be #3. I forgot about the Big O, he would actually be #1 in this category. Bump everyone else down a spot.

I saw the Bulls v. Pacers last Friday and he was amazing in person. He did 5 moves that no one else on the planet can do. He is impossible to guard straight up (strength and speed) or trap. I am looking forward to what the future holds for 'fast like my D Rose'. -
Yawnski, only a 37 point lead in Atlanta.
-
I watch more NBA than anyone I've ever encountered so far in life and I don't think I've ever seen a more dominant half than the first half tonight (talking about the team as a whole but Rose put on a show individually as well). The Bulls TS% was 80.6% in the first half. Are you kidding me?
-
have to consider Rose a top 5 player in the league right now. Right behind kobe and lebron and hes really not that far behind them. The guy was pissed off he missed a free throw last night, comes out tonight and goes 12-12 from the line, takes over and wins the game again in the 4th quarter. so fun to watch.
-
This was one of his best games ever tonight. He just completely took over and won the game himself.
-
I'm blacked out
-
If anyone wants to prematurely anoint rose the league mvp, I can live with it. But the greatest of all time? Just stop. In 5 years when his career and legacy is more defined then this conversation will have validity. I do agree with rose winning mvp this year. My top 5 would be rose, kobe, howard, lebron, and dirk. I know some of you won't agree with kobe being 2nd but he is the best closer in the game and you can't underestimate a player who knows how to win games. Imo rose will prove his worth after the 1st round of playoffs. Realistically if the bulls are going to do well rose will have to step it up even more. I'm not saying he's incapable of doing it cause he can but the intensity and pressure of playoff basketball is overwhelming.
-
don't know if it's "premature" this deep in the season

30 pts and 17 dimes? Is this real life?

There are still people who take the thread title seriously? I love it.
-
Poor argument tho. You play in the era you play in.

And did someone really say he is top five right behind Bron and Kobe? No arguing that, but I dunno how you mention the top 3 without Durant in the discussion. -
better argument against big O is the ridiculous pace they played back then
robertson's teams averaged > 120 a game and gave up just about the same -
Locked up the MVP tonite imo
-
Boston looked good again tonight
imo
