  1. My desktop is getting quite old and I think it is time for an upgrade. Mainly the only things I use my desktop for are poker, internet, and to make training videos. I'm really kinda lost on what specifics I need to make sure I have on a desktop since I don't do any real gaming or anything of that sort. If anyone knows or has recently purchased a desktop they like please let me know cause I'm open to all suggestions but really just need something that will allow me to do the basics. Thanks!! Looking forward to the OT league this year!!

  3. When i got my new desktop i went to one of those little private owned computer repair shops. I told them what i needed it for, and they built me a brand new one. Like $400 i think. Included a video card so i could run multiple monitors.

By far the best option. This is what I did when I got my last desktop, and I will be doing it again in the not too distant future. You have everything you need, and none of the extra bs you don't for a reasonable price.
  5. I would find one of these in your price range with atleast 4GB of DDR3 Ram. Make sure 4GB Ram.

Also, if you run dual monitors or you want to dont forget to checkout a Dual monitor video card.

  6. Well if you like to tinker they are pretty simple to build. Getting the parts is the key. I can help with the parts list if you tell me what budget you have in mind for the machine.

I was asking how a dell monitor compares to an apple monitor, and you start talking about operating systems?

Just because they both also sell computers, doesn't mean that every time they are mentioned in the same sentance, it has somthing to do with operating systems.

Like this: "I sold my apple stocks and bought dell instead, totally different operating system". Does that make sense to you? Is your mom and your dad closely related?

lol gtfo, post your fanboy bs on another site. Question wasn't even remotely about an OS and you get a boner that you can display your mindless apple fanboyism for all to see. Nice try clown.

Do this, build your own, or find a site that lets you pick the parts and pieces you want.

You shouldn't need anything fancy, something like an i3+ processor (or AMD quad-core+), 4GB ram like someone else mentioned, whatever memory you think will be needed for a hdd (use what you're using now for reference), and a separate video card. Doesn't need to be a fancy video card, just not an on-board one so running multiple sites doesn't slow down your whole system, and for cooling issues.

If you buy one off newegg or another major brands site, then chances are you'll end up paying extra for crap you don't need, not to mention have extra unnecessary software you'll never use if you get it straight from someone like dell.

  17. If you are interested in building your own but don't really know what you are doing when it comes to picking compatible parts newegg.com has kits that include all the components you need often at a slight discount for buying them all together.
