  1. Anybody here play disc golf? I've recently became addicted to the sport and play almost every day. I think shot for shot it's more entertaining than golf, and on top of that it's free!
  2. shot for shot more entertaining?? LMFAO absolutely not...you are throwing a fucking frisbee...its not exciting at all or entertaining...its something to do when you are bored as fuck...
  3. 1stttt

dude where have you been? i still remember one of your threads from like '06 where you shoved blind every hand and almost won a tourney; def one of the craziest HHs i ever saw
  4. I've never seen anyone hit a golf bar that curve right to get around a tree, then left to get around another tree.

  5. I personally love it despite being terrible... I've only played a few times, and if not for my friend who is really good moving to LA, I'd probably be playing 3-4 times a week with him and getting better. Seattle's a pretty good spot for it, quite a few courses. Costwise, definitely cheaper than golf. Or even sitting home and watching TV.

One of my friends drove into a greenside bunker today that has a 7-foot high face and I've seen the ball just get permaburied in there. I was on the opposite fringe lining up my put when a disc comes flying out of the bunker and tags the flag. A+++, buddy...

Yea, the majority of players are just casuals but there is actually a pretty big competitive subculture to the sport. We have a few leagues in my area, on of them has 100+ people each week.

I think there's pretty much a subculture that has clubs, discs, kayak paddles, random other sporting equipment and a 30-pack cooler sitting in the back of their car permanently... It was pretty funny actually, have golfed with the guy several times and didn't even know he threw... nailed the flag though.
  13. Stuff White People Like:

    #110 Frisbee Sports

    September 23, 2008 by clander

Though many white people consider competitive sports to be too aggressive and macho for their tastes there are a few exceptions. The most notable is Soccer since for some reason it is wrong to get fired up about Football game, but right to get fired up about a Football match. The second sport (term used loosely) in this category is called Ultimate Frisbee or simply Ultimate.
It is important to know that when you hear a white person saying “we should do some ultimate this weekend” or “I’m so pumped for ultimate,” they are talking about a sport and not an “ultimate solution”-type race war. Though a quick look at a field full of Ultimate Frisbee players might lead one to surmise that an ethnic cleansing has taken place.
When you first see the sport being played, you will be struck at how amazingly boring it is. Imagine a field of white people running around throwing a frisbee trying to catch it in an “endzone.” Sometimes one person ‘guards’ another (pictured) and that’s the whole game. There is nothing more to explain.
If you look a little closer, you will see some surprising things. First, you will never see hippies get more upset than on an Ultimate Frisbee field. It can be jarring to see people who look like they should be playing acoustic guitars yelling at each other about whether or not Blake stepped out of bounds. Secondly, you will notice that Ultimate Frisbee matches are the best place to meet white guys who wear headbands.
Fortunately, ultimate frisbee offers a lot of opportunities for personal, professional and financial gain. Since the sport has yet to be integrated, you could command a high fee in terms of money or favors if you agree to join one of the many white leagues in your area. To a white person, having a diverse Ultimate team is almost as good as winning the championship. Almost.
In addition, white people have also created a sport called Frisbee Golf. In this game, you see how many throws it takes to get a disc into a receptacle. There is no other pertinent information about this sport, and it’s only real value is as a cheap date for white people who like to be outside.
In any case, if a white person talks to you a sport that you’ve never heard of, do not be afraid to ask some questions. This is because, on average, white people invent a new sport every six weeks. Hacky Sack, Sky Surfing, and group juggling are just a few of the games invented to help white people maximize their time at parks and beaches.
  14. I grew up in a town with one of the states best frolf courses. I can still count the number of times i went there on a single hand.

  16. holy shit, it's Staple Gun!!!

While I do think Frisbee Golf is fun, it's waaaay too easy to learn to ever be taken seriously. When you can master a sport in six months to a year (not to mention play when you're stoned), I can't categorize it as a real sport. It's more of a hobby.
  17. staple gunnnnnnnnn!
  18. Meh, "master"?

Disc golf pros exist (making ~20k-100k for top couple players)) and they are rediculously good. Anyone can get pretty decent in a year, but not master.

Not on par w/bolf by any means, but you could challenge yourself for years as a casual player and see continuous improvement.

    Holy shit giga!!!!

If it was possible to master in 6 months then I would be a master right now. They have a whole ratings system where 1000 is considered 'scratch', but actually it takes a years of practice to get to the 1000 level. There are only about 10 people around the 1030 mark who are the well known pro's.

  20. I have a few discs. It's pretty fun and we have quite a few courses in SoCal.

    Oh, and hi Staple Gun!
  21. Hi Sicktight. I just saw I had a notification and spent like 10 minutes trying to figure out where my unread message was, turns out it was from you like 2 years ago haha.

You're a mod now huh? I was a mod one time, then I got banned :(

Yeah, been a mod for a couple years or so now. Getting used to the new site still eh?
  23. A few years??? Wow I've been gone a while. The new site is sweet though, much better than the cluttered un-uniform madness of the old site.

  24. yeah i play quite a bit. a lot of fun, but i'm pretty average...there's some real fun courses here in iowa. plus you can have some beers and smoke bud freely which adds to the fun. i've only played real golf a few times so can't really compare...golf is too expensive for my broke ass anyways

    Reason: meh
  25. Try and play a few times a week. I'm well above average. I'm no pro by any means, but am prolly a 930-950 disc golfer.
  26. I was 16 years old and shrooming in Whistler during the summer time and went on a hike out of the village. Walking through the forest and was about certain something flew past me, person I was with claimed he saw it too. Then it happened again! Turned out we were on a frisbee golf course. That is my only experience

    sounds like a good time
  27. I think it would be fun if i could control the disc in the least bit. But hell i had my coworkers showing me how to throw a paper airplane yesterday, so i probably suck more than most
  28. Holy fking shit

where the fuck have you been

I remember once agessssssssssssssssssssssss ago someone made a thread asking what posters were the same people/had similar posting styles and someone said me, shaaarrrp, and staple gun. Then you just fking disappeared one day wtf

    http://www.discgolfunited.com/

You'd probably like this site if you're getting into hard core. It's got a handicap tracking and you can find out what leagues and tournaments are nearby.

My whole claim to fame was that I beat Dave Feldberg on the front 9 at Idlewild about a year and a half ago. He came back and won by like 6 strokes on the back, but I was still stoked.

Oh, and fuck anyone who says DG isn't a real sport or that it can be mastered in 6 months. Please come to Lexington, KY, and put your money where your mouth is. Dumbasses.
