  1. If McCain gets the Republican nomination, which it is looking like he might happen (Romney REALLY, REALLY needed to win California to get a serious chance) is there anyone that thinks that the Democrats WONT win?
    1
  2. you do realize McCain makes it more likely that the republicans win the White House than if Romney or Huckabee was the nominee
  3. I really think these neo-conservatives don't think things through before they regurgitate what Rush tells them...
  4. Um, I think it's just the opposite. McCain appeals more to the undecided and the middle of the roaders, so I think it's more likely the we have 4 more years of a Republican leader if McCain wins, unless the Dems can get their act together and come out with a consistent message.
  5. I think it has to do more with the Democratic side. If Hilary wins the Dem side, and doesn't pick Obama as a VP, I think any of the Republicans will ultimately win (even with Obama, I have a hard time imagining Hilary is the right woman to break that glass barrier).

If Obama wins, he'll have some issues, but I think he can win it all, if he has a good platform (still not up on where he stands on every issue).

I still think a very interesting ticket would be if McCain offers the VP ticket to Obama. African Americans, as a whole, vote Democratic. You know some of those votes swing Republican with Obama on the ticket. I know it won't happen, but it would be very interesting.
  6. reoublicans will win again
  7. McCain is the only Republican who could possibly win nationally, IMO you put him and Huckabee together and they beat Clinton.
  8. if McCain did this the Republicans would drop him immediately from the party...or Bloomberg would enter and an independent giving it to Clinton.
  9. supermoves, what I want you to do is show me what states Hillary or Obama become more likely to win with McCain as the nominee, instead of Huckabee or Romney.

  10. yeah, if he's going against Clinton and wants an African American on the ticket to "steal" the black vote he puts Colin Powell on the ticket. this wont happen though
  11. Obama: Missouri, Kansas, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina

    Clinton: Arkansas, Nevada, Ohio, Florida

But the flip is that McCain could take a couple of the NE off the dems...

and Obama/Edwards ticket gets a lot of the SE IMO.
  12. IF Obama was to win, do you think they guy makes it beyond 1 year in office? I am not wishing assassination to happen, never would but with the hate groups that exist I think it would really happen.
  13. hold on AJ. you misread my post. I asked what states clinton would be more likely to win if Romney was the nominee instead of McCain.

Not looking back to the 2004 election, which is what the map is of
  14. Yes, I think he makes it 8. Our secret service is pretty damn good...
  15. there are a lot of people who really really really hate Bush and he's still alive.
  16. You can't be serious?
  17. oh, heh...my way was more fun...
  18. dewey beats truman...
  19. Just wondered, that is all.
  20. What difference does it make? If McCain becomes president, the Democrats still win. This is such a shame.
  21. So you'll take Hillary over McCain. gg overturning Roe Vs. Wade and gg guns.
  22. Don't get me wrong i like McCain but i know he will just die in office so I wouldnt vote for him unless the VP was solid
  23. lol it is amazing how many people here have NO idea what they are talking about? Someone here said that a McCain/Huckabee ticket beats Clinton...LOL Oh my...

The best chance the Republicans have to win (Although "republican" is a misnomer, because McCain is simply a moderate democrat), would be if Obama won for the Dems. I think people are still a bit to racist (in general) to elect a black president. But if Clinton wins, and she probably will, its all over for us.

Also, for the total moron who posted the map with the colors on it, Cali and NY and Mass have as many people as 7 or 8 of those midwestern states. Use your head.

  24. Here's the thing, there are a lot of people who are middle of the road voters. Mccain appeals to that section more and also has the ability to pick up votes from traditional Dems and Republicans.

I believe Mccain is the biggest threat to Hilary (if she was to win the nomination). However a Hilary/Obama ticket is a big danger to the republicans.

Oh and LOL at all the right wings bitching about Mccain, if anything you guys are strengthening his push to the White House.
  25. Super, that is what is great about a living in a democracy. The people (for the most part) get to elect who gets to lead our country. Way too many IFs right now, and it's a wideopen race. Let's revisit when we know who will be running on both tickets.
  26. We already do. It's John McCain against Mrs. Bill Clinton.

If you don't know that yet you aren't paying attention.
  27. The democrats are a fucking joke of a party. They will find a way to lose again. It's truly amazing the the lack of viable candidates from both parties.

  28. Well, I wont vote for McCain...period. So by nominating him, MILLIONS of republicans are not going to vote, just on principal...giving the election to the dems.

I dont know what would upset me more, the Communist party (a.k.a hillary and Obama) getting the white house with a democratic controlled legislature or a backstabbing, prick, sell-out like McCain getting in there, by claimling he is a conservative...what a load. Thats what really pisses me off.

If he said "Hey, Im a middle of the road guy, no one side is always right, so vote for me if you want someone reasonable on both sides" then I would at least not HATE him. But to stand up in massachusetts, my home state and say "Look at all the endorsements Im getting from former republican governors, this is because Im a true conservative" that makes me sick.

What makes me even MORE sick is the thought of McCain OR Hillary/Obama possibly getting to appoint 3 supreme court judges...goodbye justice, hello amnesty from sex offenders and criminals..

  29. 1) I'll concede McCain, 2) I won't concede Clinton, and 3) running mates factor in.
  30. super...you're far right...traditionally far right leaning individuals only think that their opinions matter and are the focus of the entire country. I don't mean it as an insult, just a stereotype from my past. You completely missed the point of Dolphin's map...what states does Romney have a better chance of carrying than McCain?

Obama is a stronger Dem candidate for president, yes there are some racist rednecks out there but seriously? And don't forget the black man was allowed to vote before the white WOMAN. Clinton is very polarizing, McCain is middle of the road enough that he'll pull most of the undecideds against her unless she changes her tune.

McCain is your best bet...your only bet really...
