1. I need to set-up a website that will accept credit card payments online. Who has the best prices and services for credit card payments? I looked at the following sites:

http://www.quickregister.net/charge.html
http://www.cardservicesales.com/
http://www.merchantexpress.com/
Has anyone used any of these sites? Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks.
2. I just use paypal, the processing fee is going to be close no matter which provider you happen to choose.
3. http://cdgcommerce.com/

only $10/month great service and comes with a free gateway. I highly recommend this, I would use Paypal as well and maybe even google checkout. May I ask what the business is?
4. Also if you need any help setting up your website just pm me and I'll be happy to help.

Thanks for the offer. My brother is designing the website and building the databases so I think I am okay on that end. This is for a web-based referral service. I am going to use paypal but I wanted credit card payment as an option too.

6. Paypal is a CC processor
7. Only if through a paypal account thought, right? You can't pay with a visa if you don't have a paypal account set up, right? Or am I a idiot?

8. all of our transactions eventually go through PayPal, but I think we use some other company called First Omaha or something.
9. A customer does not need a paypal account to pay with a CC to a paypal merchant.
10. The problem with Paypal is that if and when there is credit card fraud (and you will have some fraud if you do a lot of transactions) Paypal will freeze your account for weeks and maybe months until they investigate and clear your account. This will be horrible if you have vendors you need to pay, unless you make constant withdrawals to your bank account.

This is one of the reasons why I have a regular merchant account as well as Paypal. And just like you, a lot of people just don't know that they can use their cc with paypal without opening a paypal account. Paypal is not a bank and is not insured, so if you decide to go strictly with paypal I would use Paypal Pro and make frequent withdrawals to your bank account. GL with your new venture!
11. I keep a very small amount on paypal, I usually move funds to the bank very quickly.
