  1. Are they tourney bound now? I (a UNC student who just had to suffer through taht game) believe they should be in. I think you have to give the ACC 4 teams and I sure as hell wouldn't wanna be the 5 seed that has to play VT if they are a 12 seed.
  2. No, they needed to win to get in..
  3. they're in
  4. No they have only beat one team thats in the feild as of now and that was Miami. They are clearly on the wrong side of the bubble.
  5. OUT, only 1 top 50 win

    lol at playing them close

  6. the acc will get 4 teams, but va tech wont be one of them

  7. so you think Miami will get in?

and playing good teams close is looked at by the committee when you are on the buble, after all they do want close games...

  8. miami rpi 32, 3-3 vs top 50
va tech rpi 53, 1-7 vs top 50

  9. jhendricks, you are right... it does help in general, the committee has admitted to taking close losses into account (woot for Baylor, even tho we are in)

however, after today's lost VaTech is 19-13 with only 1 good win... they lost all their marginally tough games in non conference too...

the ever important 20 wins and a signature win over UNC would have been enough, now they are squarley on the wrong side of the bubble

the only positive thing they have is they finished strong, and they are 9-7 in a tough conference... but the slow start and poor road play is going to bite them in the ass IMO

  10. I agree with Waco and I'm a hokie fan.

They are playing great basketball the last month or so but needed to win vs clemson or today vs NC, both 1 point losses. Had they won just 1 i think they would be in.

NIT here come the Hokies, hopefully they keep playing solid basketball and go deep in that.

Oh, 5 freshmen play significant minutes for the Hokies, the future looks bright in basketball, Seth Greenberg is a very underrated coach.
  11. agree as well, they should be a solid top 3-5 ACC team for the near future

  12. i agree.... i mean the post was a question...
i hadn't look at their non-conference, but its brutal, agreed they shouldnt get in, i don't think Miami should get in either, they suckkk

  13. anyone catch the bubble-ology talk on ESPN the other night? Pretty solid formula for getting in.

    20+ Wins
    2 Conferece tourney wins
    >.500 conf record
  14. Miami will get in

VT is RIGHT on the bubble.. theyre are without a doubt one of the top 64 teams in the country, but i dont think they're gonna make it.

  15. 65 teams play in this tournament imo.
  16. so arizona is prolly gonna get in filling out non of those criteria? pretty sick imo
     2
  17. Close, but Va Tech will get in imo.

And whether they should get in or not, they are definitely capable of doin some damage.

  18. Acc is the most overrated conference in the country. None of their teams has quality road wins out of conference.. put Miami in the Big East or Pac-10 and they are NOT in the tourney. The League is VERY top heavy (Duke/Unc) But even Duke/Unc dont have the greatest resumes. Before UNC beat Duke in the final game of the season they had NO wins vs teams that are in the top 25! Clemson was their best win. Maybe its me but I just dont see how the Acc could be the #1 rated RPI League in the nation.
  19. I don't know if overrated is the right term. Most ACC fans look at this as a mediocre to bad year for the conference and would agree with being top heavy. The reason it's the number one RPI league is because the teams at the bottom really aren't that bad. Compare the four worst teams in the conference rpi's against the four worst in any other conference and it becomes clear. ACC is top heavy but the bad teams aren't aweful, there are just a lot of so-so sloppy teams in the conference.
  20. bc will beat rutgers, northwestern, arizona state, colorado, georgia etc

the bottom 3-4 teams in the ACC will destroy the bottom 3-4 teams in any other conference

top to bottom the acc is ridiculously talented comapted to the other conferences
  21. lol, what a homer... "ridiculously talented"

making excuses for your Maryland collapse? ACC is obv the best conference year in and year out, but it's nothing special this year... Pac 10, Big 12 and Big East are all equal or better this year

  22. I think the ACC will get 5 teams in
  23. VT has no shot espec if illinois wins today thats gonna b awesome for bubble teams
  24. None of the conferences impress me at all.

I do think Va Tech has a shot to get in if Illinois and Georgia lose. I'd take them over a shit team like OSU anyday.
