  1. Just wondering what you guys think of this? <btw: I don't know how to do the vid thing, so if a Mod can properly do it, that'll be great>

  2. I have no commet about the dog/vet/cop thingie, but this did remind me of something that I've always wondered about but always forgot to research/ask:

If your dog gets injured somehow, and it is losing a lot of blood, or seems to be in serious condition, and you aren't sure if you have enough time to drive it to the vet before it'll die, are you allowed to call 911 and have the paramedics come over to help, or is that against the law?

Do paramedics strictly only work on humans, or are dogs ok too if they are totally fuct and about to die unless they get immediate medical help?

    Anyone know?
  3. wtf^^^
dude, dont be wasting paramedics time on a dog
  4. I'm really curious as to the correct way for the officer to handle that. I think optimal situation would be to go with the person to the vet and then give them a ticket... but are they really allowed to do that? Ess respond imo.
  5. he was driving 100mph, didn't stop immediately, and it was just a dog ( I love dogs as much as the next guy, but it's not a human ). He was putting himself, his boyfriend passenger, other drivers, and the officer at risk. F him. Also, there was probably a good chance the dog was going to die anyway. the thing looked pretty old...
as for the title of the video about it being a 3k dog, that doesn't matter, a 3k dog is equal to a ten buck dog.
they should also give him an extra fine for wearing a lip ring.
  6. The cop is a prick, like sc said he should have taken the people to the vet and then gave them a ticket. All he cared about was his quota.
  7. Im sure it depends on what city/state youre in. in alaska im sure they prob like fuck it, its a dog, in S.F. its prob a felony.
  8. Just the other night my dog began to throw up blood violently and was on the verge of passing out / dying. I immediately rushed to the nearest 24 hour vet. I was going 50-55 in a 30 the entire time down the street. It was 3am and there were no cars but, as I was driving I was thinking wtf am I going to do if I get pulled over? Here in the city (Chicago) cops are extremely cool and laid back (for the most part) and I think I would have just stopped and explained the situation quickly. I firmly believe most cops would have let me continue on my way. However, in the same situation in the suburbs or especially on the highway with state troopers, I would reduce my speed a bit and call 911 explaining why I wasnt going to pull over until I arrived at the hospital. I would explain to the operator what was going on and he/she could relay the information to the officers. I highly doubt after explaining what was going on that any police force is going to pull me over and hold me for any amount of time knowing the situation ahead of time. Really a tough spot just hope it never happens.

I guarantee this guy has never owned a dog.
  10. I'll tell you what, fly down to my house and see my dog. I'll also show you pics and vid of my previous dog. Then I'll show you pics of my dog before that when I was in high school. If I can't do any of that, then I'll give you 10K and you can kick me in the nuts. I love dogs, I love my dog, but at the end of a day, a dog's life is not worth putting a human's life in jeopordy.

the point is, genius, IT'S A DOG. If that guy driving his SUV 100mph slammed into a car killing someone else, or if the cop died while chasing him, this board would be filled with people calling the guy an ass for driving 100mph being chased by a cop for only a fucking poodle (a lab or a boxer I could almost understand...).

Look at the comments on the youtube video, people are abusing the cop beyond reason, two of them wishing cancer on the cop. This being the cop who just risked his life chasing what could have been a murderer, a drug dealer who knows, only to find out it was all for a fucking dog. The outrage on that board is misplaced. The bigger dickhead in the story is the dogowner, not the cop.

above pic of my springer spaniel puppy attacking my son back in october
  11. if my dog's life depends on me getting to the vet immed i will not stop for an officer until i arrive at said vet.

    this

And if you really "love dogs as much as the next guy", you would never say anything like the crap he wrote above.
  13. I agree with you 100% whaler55. And if you check out the other video where he is interviewed he says the whole time he is driving 100 mph he was on the phone with his vet. Come on people, it's a dog.
  14. i wouldnt stop and i would drive as fast as possible, i love my dog and dont care much for the strangers I would be putting in danger
  15. OMFG, the cop was doing his job.
  16. Its kinda fucked up that dude was like "its just a dog, you can get another one, relax."

Also, if you have any clue of what your doing, driving 100mph is not hard.

Thats all im gonna add here.
  17. All I can say is that once I saw what was happening I would have told him to go on but def to slow down. I am a dog lover though so...
  18. What if the speeding dude ran over your dog while rushing his to the vet?? Now that would be ironic. --J
  19. "You can love your pets, just don't love your pets. next caller?"
galt nailed it, as usual. and what if this guy ran over a kid, let alone a dog?

this...i LOVE pretty much any pet, especially dogs, but you can't be putting other people at risk like that.

like SCTrojans said, i think it would have been best if the cop woulda let him with sirens on to the vet, then gave him the ticket while there.

but, when it comes down to it, he's doing his job.
  21. I'm kind of on the fence here. 100 mph is a bit excessive but the cop was completely rude and keeping them there for 15 min wasn't any better. A cop escort might be a bit excessive in that situation but maybe it was in order with a stiff ticket to follow. Idk tho, tough spot.
  22. I didn't follow the links, but I heard the story on the news.

I'm really torn here. Yes, I love my pets. Yes, I might be compelled to rush them quickly also. But, there is a reason you can't go 100 mph on the road. What if they ran over a kid, and the kid dies because of this? Then, was it worth it? What if they caused an accident. It isn't unthinkable to think things like this can happen if you go that fast down the road in mental distress.

This is easy to hate because the cop was a prick who said you can get a new dog. That's a low blow, and I'm not against some sort of sanctions against him (if that is what happened). But, I just can't justify going that fast.

In the perfect world here, the cop would have escorted them to the vet, let them start treatment on the dog, and then handled the ticket. Sure, might have been against procedures, but it would have been the ultimate "right" thing to do.

    at night... on the interstate...
  24. oh, I guess he was obeying all traffic laws and not speeding on the side streets, and only sped up whilst on the interstate? Is that it? maybe the hospital is located in the middle of the highway? perhaps!

Wouldn't it make more sense for the officer to give him an escort to the vets to ensure the safety of all those involved while trying to do the best for the dog?

  26. you just cant let yourself be wrong, can you... even if you dont read/watch the story and say something stupid, you cant just say "i was wrong."
hes not being ticketed for speeding in a rural area, so the point is really moot... but even if he was going to speed everywhere, people speed all the fucking time. and by some miracle, all our nation's children arent dead yet. if speeding was really that much of a risk, it would come with a steeper penalty than $75.

why do i even bother with you?
  27. My dog fell 30 feet off a cliff while hiking with me in March. Rear leg snapped in half and moaning like a porn star. I was 30 miles north of Vegas. I drove the speed limit on 95, it is a highway, all the way to the vet. The pooch lived. I agree with the cop.
  28. kids don't get killed by speeders? he's not in a rural area, which means...uh...hunh? oh, and other people do it so...uh, I don't know why you bother either.

Actually many departments, including ours, do not allow police escorts
  30. you suck at arguing like you suck at life... but whatever, you win, sure. little jimmy(who often plays stickball in the middle of interstate at night... weather permitting, of course. little jimmy was raised right and his mother would never allow him to play during a storm) was at great risk, thank god the officer got to this maniac when he did or who knows what could have happened. what do you think the penalty should be? youre in the conservative camp, i know, so you might be leaning towards the death penalty, which is certainly understandable. myself, im thinking maybe just life in prison...

    or $120 with court supervision.
