Dog people, what is this?

    So this popped up on my boxer yesterday. I noticed it when cleaning off her paws, after she was playing out in the yard. This thing is about the size of a quarter, and stared cracking and slightly bleeding. Im super paranoid about mast cell tumors, because boxers are known for them. YES, she is going to the vet Monday, but hoping someone could calm me a bit if they knew what it was. (98 percent chance is teh aids)

    Reading comprehension ftw. She's going tomorrow, vet isn't open today. She is in good spirits, shows no signs of being ill or sick. Is eating, playing, etc.

    Because it is driving me nuts, can't find anything to verify what it might be. Keep thinking tumor, and its freaking me out.

    looks pretty big and aggressive for a tumor - 2 days? It's probably and insect bite (bot fly) or contact dermatitis. best of luck, just try and put it out of your mind until tomorrow. there may be all night vet, if you are really worried

    Hadn't considered a bite...I have a bad habit of thinking the worst.

    Spoke to a FB friend, who is also in vet school, and she said it is most likely a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histiocytoma_%28dog%29 So basically a benign tumor, that will regress on its own.

    you need to get it checked out by a vet obv ... this is what your dog will look like when he gets home.

    Does your dog sleep in a crate? Could be a callous, our Dobermans have had these before and we were told it was just that.

    You seriously JUST noticed something that large on your dogs leg today?? That has been growing for awhile and now your worried about it?

    That could be a week old. I don't check my dog head to tail every day but I'd be worried too if I saw that.
