wow has this been posted? just on espn, pleaded guilty for manslaughter charge, 30 days in jail and worked out a deal with the family so there is no lawsuit. very shocking.
-
Yea this is a little absurd. one thing's for sure, that family got a million+ settlement imo.
-
i rewinded tivo like 3-4 times just to make sure i was reading 30 days right? can you imagine getting drunk, hopping in your bentley, running someone over trying to get to a bus stop and then saying oops, sorry i made a mistake. 30 days ploz?
-
this is just another proven point that football players can get away with anything...unless ur ray carruth
-
"I give u half of what make rest football career, minus agents cut obv, and I sayz I sowwy and we make go way no?" obv had better lawyers than vick.
-
He's not some violent murderer, his true punishment is the anguish he'll feel for the rest of his life knowing he's killed someone, imo.
Everything I've read about this has been about him reaching out the the family & his genuine remorse. Sad story for all involved, there's no winners/losers here. -
i wonder what plaxico and vick are thinking right now
wait wtf, i dont care how much he reaches out, he drove his 6 figure car drunk into a guy and killed him. being sorry and helpful doesnt make it ok...if thats the case, shouldnt everyone go free? id say 99% of dui offenders that killed someone probably feel pretty fucking awful. But its our fault we arent all millionaires -
I'm sure league suspension will be more than 6 games (Marshall fine for banging on a taxi window like a madman) but less than vicks ban since it's first issue... Obv the league will want him to be able to pay the family. Obv will pull a hami first game back and go on ir as per NFL agreement then get cut in offseason and resign with raiders for $50 mill.
-
If you're the victims family would you rather have Stallworth continue playing and receive million in restitution or would you rather have this drag out in court and have Stallworth serve a couple years in prison?
Like the previous poster said, there are no winners here. Keep in mind DUI cases are rarely open and shut and with the right lawyer you can often get around anything. -
if someone runs over my family member drunk i could care less about getting any money or restitution. all i want is him to never do anything he can enjoy again. you dont just get drunk and run over someone im related to and think money is going to fix it. i guess i value family a little bit, what a weird person i am.
-
The victim's family wanted money not punishment or retribution, apparently. Might be harder to get money from him if he is locked up and unable to work. A civil settlement was reached also. The timing of resolving both cases at the same time is interesting.
-
How the fuck are Plaxico and Vick even reasonable comparisions here?
In Vick's case he showed absolutely no remorse until the writing was on the wall and was incredibly brazen about the whole situation. The majority of legal experts have said that if Vick had come clean from the start his sentence would have been way less
Plaxico is a complete life fuck up. If it wasn't a gun charge it would have been something else.
As I said in the previous Stallworth thread, there was absolutley no previous history of him having done anything wrong in his life. And also eyewitness accounts said that the guy that got ran over was trying to run across traffic and not like he got hit in a cross walk or anything. This isn't Leonard Little. -

ok so lets say he was running across the lanes...had stallworth been sober maybe his reaction time is faster and this doesnt happen. You do realize this is why people shouldnt drive drunk.
-
that is absolutely sickening.
he should get prison time like anyone else would. joe blow probably gets 20 years for the same crime. -
As if this matters, would you be happier if he had done so in a Hyundai?

America
Land of the free - especially if you have plenty cash
This is quite simply disgusting and sets a horrible horrible precident
As for any family taking money as a settlement for the loss of their loved ones that is just as sick and shows what a horrible society we are turning into where money >>>>>>> all other things -
i was just putting an emphasis on the whole money idea...and fwiw, i guarantee you when people arrive to a scene and see a piece of shit car or a brand new expensive car, they treat it completely different.
-
I don't remember saying people shouldn't drink and drive?

And please don't bring back that abortion of a "do you want fries with that thread" into this. -

im not personally attacking you or something...i just am confused on how people are defending this
people like me? i guess i just know how it is to be treated differently, ive grown up in a wealthy family and see how people get treated like shit in different situations and then because they hear my last name in my town, i get special treatment and it makes me sick. dont assume -
I think we're just saying the alternative's worse. Personally it wouldnt' have shocked me if this went to court and it for some reason they have through on the field sobreity tests he gets off with nothing/family gets nothing or not as much.
