The new drug is called DRACO (Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) Activated Caspase Oligomerizer) and works by inducing infected cells to kill themselves before the virus can spread.
I've been reading up on this drug recently, and its some pretty amazing stuff. They have been apparently been having some pretty amazing success testing it on rats. If it achieves similar success with humans, this could easily be the greatest medical breakthrough since penicillin. Could this be the end of AIDS?

Still probably a good idea for your boyfriend to wear a rubber, Glo4m.

Thats really awesome. Read some of the comments though about big pharma companies potentially trying to stop this from being made so they dont lose money on their anti virus stuff is pretty tilting.

This has a long way to go. Big pharma would NEVER stop a drug like this IF it worked. What they would do is all fight to acquire the IP. In the end, they would make more money than the reaeachers, but they would take a all of the risk. Getting this through Phase ii/iii clinical trials and building a manufacturing facility are massive expensive, that this team could NEVER afford, even if they started their own company and borrowed or went public.

ill be waiting to see if it turns people into zombies

successful trials followed by no patent/gift to the world one goddamn time?
