  1. Questions I want answers to regarding driving laws and driving/etiquette.

    1. If you are driving on a highway on Sunday and you are in a work zone and there are no workers present, do you still have to slow down?

    2. Is it ok to pass a funeral procession on the highway if they are going below the speed limit?

    3. Why do people slow down/pull over for an emergency vehicle if it going the other direction? Is it necessary?

    4. Why do people who go to garage sales feel like they can violate every parking etiquette rule?

    thanks!
  2. 1st is yes for sure, if it's posted work area you better slow down to that posted speed.
  3. 1. no clue if you should, i wouldnt

    2. would always pass a funeral procession (w/o cutting in), especially on a highway

    3. seems dumb

    4. other peoples' old stuff is intriguing
  4. 1. i would slow down a little just in case, u don't want one of those tickets.

    2. yea can def pass.

    3. it is prob best to slow down a little and get as far right as possible. anything you can do to help make it easy for the emergency vehicle is prob for the best. i wouldnt want to be in need of an emergency vehicle and have it delayed for any reason.

    4. i think the rarity of a garage sale would make me ok with some people violating some parking etiquette, bc if i was having a garage sale i would want people to be able to come to it and would hope that my neighbors would be cool enough to let it slide for a day.

Yes. the workers are gone which means the cops can actually find somewhere to peg yoru speed and get you for that double fine the city needs so bad.

    2. Is it ok to pass a funeral procession on the highway if they are going below the speed limit?

You are a piece of shit. Second, I have never seen a funeral percession on the highway.

    3. Why do people slow down/pull over for an emergency vehicle if it going the other direction? Is it necessary?

What if they were coming to save you? What if they need to make a turn in your direction and you fuck them up. I ALWAYS pull over simply because they are not driving around code 3 to have fun, there is obviously somone going through something that is more important than the 10 seconds I lose if I pull over.

    4. Why do people who go to garage sales feel like they can violate every parking etiquette rule?

Because the person holding the garage sale is doing it wrong and didn't hire people to flag everyone to the dedicated parking area.

    thanks!

    ..
  6. Well Powda, so I have seen a funeral procession on a highway. Are you supposed to just follow it for 20 miles? I never said that I did it, so not sure why you made that assumption.

What if the emergency vehicle is going the opposite direction and there is a median in between? You still slow down and pull over?

Meh. I guess if they are going far on the highway passing may be appropriate.

As far as there being a median, no, I don't pull. No median, every time.
  8. there is nothing wrong with passing a funeral procession on a highway. ive seen a few of them.

if there is a median and emergency vehicle is on other side of it and there are no turning spots that it may take in front of you, then proceed as normal.

as with most driving situations, just be aware of what the situation is and don't drive like a dick.

one thing on the funeral procession - if u know that ur exit is in like 1/2 mile u shouldnt like start to pass the procession and then as ur exit comes try to dart in thru it to the ramp. in that case, just pull in behind it and slow down til ur exit.

Yes you still have to slow down to the posted speed limit.

In Arizona funeral processions just have the right of way in intersections. They may be passed. This probably varies by state.

You're required to stop for emergency vehicles in case they have to turn.

    People are assholes.

  10. in vegas emergency vehichles jump the median so yeah i pull over
  11. yeah i was just going to say only pull over if there's no median. but if they can override the median anyway, then i guess you gotta pull over regardless. i think with school buses and their built-in stop sign, it doesnt apply if there's a median.

garage sales are where the dregs of society come out. i wouldnt expect people to brush their teeth, let alone park correctly. also, i've noticed, that if people put their 4-ways, they think they can do anything. cut a red light? yeah just flip the 4-ways on for a sec, no prob.
  12. never seen a funeral procession on the highway. not sure why thats ever necessary. and always pull over for emergency vehicles. saw someone almost get hit by an ambulance that was trying to turn left coming from the opposite dir. you dont know where theyre going, it takes 10 secs, just pull over till they pass.

I was going to add that I only don't pull over if it is like on a highway with a tall median that they couldn't possibly drive over. If it is basically a curb or one like a little ditch that they can drive though I pull over. I also pull over if there is a median but a turn nearby. It's not only the law but the right thing to do.

I make a point of pulling over even if other drivers are not just to try and set the example. In my experience people tend to pull over if one person pulls over.

  14. 1. slow down still

    2. pass away

    3. they sometimes drive against traffic

    4. no idea
  15. (1) Yes. You never know who is going to be there.
    (2) No idea why a funeral procession would be on a highway. If it was on a local business route with a dotted white line I wouldn't pass it. If it was on I-95... yes.
    (3) If the median can be driven over, I pull over. You never know if someone on their side of the road won't let them go by and they need to cross to the other side.
    (4) Because people driving cars are assholes. Well, people in general are assholes, so people in vehicles are just noticeable assholes.
