An Indianapolis radio host, John Michael Vincent, on ESPN 1070 in Indianapolis that goes by his initials, JMV, is reporting on his Twitter that the Colts issues at quarterback could be worse than they've been letting on.

Been told by multi sources that QB P Manning needs a 2nd neck procedure. Will remain out indefinitely.Called #colts and waiting on response.

See you misinterpreted the GiF. That chick is to encourage Manning to get better and recover quickly.

  6. They should be stoked. They are going to be bad for the first time in over a decade at the exact time when the second coming of Peyton Manning is entering the draft.

  9. couldn't believe the Colts would risk permanent injury by rushing him back for week one

this report, if true, means that i was being incredibly optimistic

hope peyton has a quick recovery he is good for the game
  10. Brilliant strategy to land Luck next year.
  11. Chargers winning it all so it doesn't matter. But this sure doesn't hurt that

Polian on Manning report: “I don’t know anything about that”

The Colts have quickly responded to the Indianapolis radio report claiming that Peyton Manning will require another neck surgery.

“I don’t know anything about that. I honestly don’t,” Colts President Bill Polian told SI’s Peter King.

That’s not a confirmation, but it’s not exactly a denial either. It reminds us of the Steelers-Cardinals Super Bowl in 2009 when PFT broke the story about Ben Roethlisberger requiring x-rays.

King asked Steelers coach Mike Tomlin back then if x-rays had occurred on Roethlisberger’s back.

“Not that I heard,” Tomlin said.

We all learned after the Super Bowl that the story was dead on and Roethlisberger was hurt.

We don’t know if Manning needs surgery, but there is growing concern that he will miss playing time. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on air last week he thought Kerry Collins would start the opener.

After talking to Polian, King wrote the following on Twitter:

“Don’t go thinking Manning’s fine+will play in 7 days at Houston. I’m starting to believe he won’t. [Kerry Collins] could be a pretty smart $4m buy. . . . Talked to an authority on Peyton surgery this weekend. Learned it’s all about nerve regeneration. You can’t rush Mother Nature.”

Whether the Colts like it or not, Manning’s health will be the biggest story in the league this week.

(And possibly every week after that until he’s ready to play.)

and the Colts just signed a full back. a position they never used w Peyton.

  14. he needs to quit being a pussy and be a man
  15. not good for one fantasy trade i just turned down involving manning. Great for the Texans!

But I want Manning to be healthy...I don't want Houston to win the division by default, I want them to have earned it.

Filed to ESPN from @mortreport: Peyton Manning is being revaluated by several doctors bc of slow progress. No other procedure planned now.

  22. Peyton wasn't that good anyway. He just happened to play in a good system. Take any mediocre QB and put him in the same system and he will excel.

Mort: No further surgery planned for Manning

Contrary to a previous report by an Indianapolis radio station, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports there are no further procedures planned for Peyton Manning "now."

Radio host John Michael Vincent admitted he would be "torched" if his report didn't stand up, and that looks to be the case. Mort does say that Manning is being re-evaluated by several doctors because of his slow progress in recovering from May neck surgery. While Manning may not be out long-term, Mort says it's now more evident that he will not be ready for the season opener "barring a miracle."
  28. As a Pats fan, mixed emotions on this. Colts won't be the same guaranteed tough week that they always are with Manning at the helm, but at the same time Manning is a stand up guy and the league isn't the same w/out him.

One thing I know, I don't envy the guy who "stole" Manning deep in the 5th round anymore.
