6.7 earthquale just hit Vancouver island. Stay safe northwestern OTers

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a lot of earthquakes lately? This is like number 4 or 5 that I've heard about in the last couple weeks. We had one in Raleigh two weeks ago and we never have earthquakes. Weird.

There are 150 6.0+ earthquakes a year. They are very common, just don't generally get a ton of press unless they are in a major cities or cause a lot of damage. -
Downtown Vancouver here. I'm in the 10th floor of a building and it was swaying pretty hard (hanging lights swinging like crazy, blinds doing a little dance too). At first I thought I just had a moment of dizziness, but then everyone started saying something.
Apparently the epicenter was the west coast of Vancouver Island (just north of Tofino). Wonder if the surfers are all headed out now, haha.

Didn't feel a thing...could have been driving back from lunch though

Was driving with a 64' crane beam on the forklift and I felt it just after lunch in Surrey. First thought was the load shifted, until I looked at our cranes and the chains were swinging.

From what I know, these smaller earthquakes are a good thing because they allow some of the built-up tectonic pressure to be released, possibly delaying or preventing "the big one" from happening sometime soon.

I live in Powell River about 200km from Port Alice - We felt it... Nothing too much.
No damage reported, no injuries, no tsunami warning...
They had a good shake on the North Island though from what i hear. -
