So I just got my wisdom teeth removed the other day, and I'm apprehensive about eating some of the stuff I used to eat. I was told for 24 hours or so after the surgery not to drink through a straw, not to eat hard foods or anything that requires a lot of chewing, etc.
Now, I'm normally not the kind of person to be a wuss and worry about things, but my dentist was just telling me a bunch of stuff about being careful so I don't loosen the blood clot in my teeth cavity or whatever, so I'm confused and I never really got a clear answer as to what to do more than like 24 hours after the surgery.
My question is, at what point should I just stop worrying about fucking up the "healing process" and return to my completely normal routine, eating habits, or whatever? -
about a week
stick to softer type foods, and do not drink thru straw, or smoke... dry socket sucks -
Yes it does. It's not painful or sore or any of that shit, I'm just worried about making things worse.

I didnt eat anything too hard for about 5 days.

i was eating nothing but soup for 5 days, my friend got dry sockets and it sounds REALLY bad

24-48 hours and you can eat anything you want. DONT SMOKE. the most common reason for dry socket. It will hurt like hell. It is all dependent on you. Most people eat soft foods for a couple of days then cut things up really small for about a day. PM me if you have any specific questions. It is what I do for a living so let me know if I can help.

i would try some nachos or cashews

What is dry socket?
I've been pretty cautious, and even though I think everything is good, I'm chewing in the front of my mouth for a while until I get my stitches on the bottom right removed. I'm just a little bit OCD when it comes to following directions. -
I think it really depends, I know people who ended up swollen as hell, and couldn't eat anything hard for days, and others that went out for beers and smoked cigerretes the same day

"Normally, a blood clot forms at the site of a tooth extraction. This blood clot serves as a protective layer over the underlying bone and nerve endings in the empty tooth socket. The clot provides the foundation for the growth of new tissue and bone.
In some cases, though, the clot doesn't form properly or is physically dislodged before complete healing. With the clot gone, bone and nerves in the socket are exposed to air, fluids and food. This can cause intense pain, not only in the socket but also along the nerves radiating to the ear and eye on the same side of your face.
But the precise cause of dry socket remains the subject of study. Some researchers believe that several issues may be at play, including:-
Bacterial contamination of the socket
Difficult or traumatic tooth extraction surgery
Roots or bone fragments remaining in the wound after surgery

TY for the info sir. I imagine since I got my teeth pulled on Tuesday that I'm not going to have that problem. I've been taking amoxicillin to fight infection.
And I love taking lorcets without trying to fight pain or soreness ;)
