As for the OP, I really hope it turns up soon.  I think your best chance is that someone has it right now and is sitting in his hotel room debating whether to keep it/sell it or not.  Hopefully he/she will make the right decision and you'll be getting a call from lost-and-found soon.

I'm rooting for you in the handicapping pool.

i'd turn it in, but unfortunately who's to say who may have found it - he lost it in one of the worst places you could lose a diamond ring - his best bet may be checking area pawn shops and seeing if he can find it and buy it back for less than he paid for it
or maybe even call a local news station and see if they'll run a story - they'd eat that kind of thing up and who knows, maybe someone will come forward or at least help you try to find it

here's to hoping you get lucky and whoever found it turns it in! glglgl
  2. Just a quick question - but why did you put decimal points in the dollar value? Is it to make it look like it was a $170,000 engagement ring when we looked quick?

  3. wow, that is sickening man. Hope everything works out.

Take it out on some muppets online in MW2?
  4. Even if I was down 5 figures for the weekend, I would turn the ring in.

Might be a flyer, but I would try calling the pawn shops around town, if someone pawned it off for quick cash, you may be able to recover it for less than you originally paid for it, would be cheaper than a new ring...and they might even cut you a better deal if you tell them the story, as long as they still make a slight profit.
  5. If you lose your wallet you contact the police. Can you do the same for the ring?

I mean if you have the recipt to prove you really did own it. That way they can inform the pawn shops to keep an eye out for it. I dont know I am just asking if that is an option. Anyone know?
  6. Wow man, that's unbelievable. I know chances are slim but I hope you recover the ring.
  7. oh bro

    fuck

    i'm crying too now :(

    try this
maybe it will help, idk, ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  9. he said that he knew exactly where he dropped it. for security to not at least look is complete bs. i turned in some keys at palms. i think at least some people will do the right thing.
  10. oh and fwiw, i turn the ring into security every time, i couldn't live with myself if i didn't. but that's me. and i'm sure some ppl are thinking, "no, you wouldn't." but yes, i would. recent case in point: i was at a casino here and was getting ready to go home after having a losing night. stopped to use the restroom before leaving and in the stall i find a cashout ticket for just over $500 in the bathroom. looked at it, thought about how easy it would be to stick it in my pocket and go cash it in, but then knew i would be eaten from teh inside out with remorse and feeling shitty about things if i did. so off to security i went and right when i got there, some lady came up to the desk crying and asking if someone had turned in a $500 slot ticket.

anyway. point is MAYBE someone will be honest, even though they prolly won't :(

also, my bro's girlfriend is THE GREATEST. and i have not always been close with her or even friends with her--- but over the years she has proven again and again that she loves my brother unconditionally. if you knew my bro like we knew him you'd know how this incident is making him feel like shit, and watching him hurt makes her hurt, which is why she's crying. no one should assume she's mad at him or "needs" a ring.

i love my brother and i love his fiancee and i know they'll get through tonight and forever very happily.
  11. engagement ring: 100% of the time i'm returning that without a second thought...

500 dlr cash out ticket: gg
  12. ugh--your family is running so bad right now :(

i hope you get it back--call the police IMO if you didn't yet

if you have a girl that is crying b/c you're upset, you have a winner at least--times like these prove what matters, and you clearly have love which fwiw is worth so much more then anything monetary.

glglgl i'm praying a good samaritan finds it

fwiw, i turn in the ring all day everyday, i could never live with that--jewelry is sentimental especially a ring

if i found cash or a cash voucher, i doubt i think twice especially if i didn't see someone drop it

i'm really, really bad at reading timestamps btw, i thought this was tonight when it was last night. but ya, apparently my brother and i loaded up mounds of bad karma in a past life or something, because i can't think of too many terrible things we've done in this one :p

i just talked with him on the phone and he sounds like they're both dealing with it okay. frustrating that the casino won't even bother with the tapes. i mean, i understand, i guess, but still rawr.
  15. i don't understand...they have rooms of people watching security tapes makes no sense not to be able to call one of the 50+ people watching the videos to rewind and watch a few min worth of footage to hopefully find what is worth more then all the money in the casino to them.
  16. Its just a fckgn ring. propose anyway. buy her another ring sometime before the wedding. Youll have a great story for your kids. Shes crying?? cuz u lost the ring geeez wtf??? I understand the tradition of buying the ring and everything but if u wanted to propose to her in vegas on this trip do it anyways. Something tht important shouldnt revolve completely around a ring imo. Propose with box that ring comes in. just put in a piece fo papre that says "IOU 1 diamond engangement ring" in teh box. should eb all set. gl

  17. Police seem like best avenue...don't know if they could do anything, but damn. Sorry...Gl...etc.
  18. why is she crying? you want to marry her. she should be happy. is the ring that big of a deal?
  19. I really do think they should just get one of those till they can replace it. I think it would be cute, and its something they can keep to look back on and smile.
  20. It might be different in the states but isn't it covered by your contents insurance? It is in Australia
  21. ugggh. Sorry to hear OP...so like did it just fall out of ur pocket or what?

will make a good story down the road i guess...

  22. she said yes end thread/worries about future with said chick////
  23. you still got the prize bro

congrats and sorry at the same time.

  24. a 1700 misplacement is a serious fuck in the ass... the fact she was cool about it and said yes though is a pretty big life high five, keeper
  25. bro, on the bright side of things I killed it for you in the madden offseason...
