  2. They bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say let em crash.
  3. well you can watch if you want...

  4. It's just a jammed forward door. No big deal at all - just media sensationalized. They will land fine.
  5. its' the front wheel thingy
  6. Don't be a fool brianyt, you know what a landing like this means, you more than anybody.
He'll never make it in this soup, not one chance in a million.
  7. Don Lemon says you don't need the nose gear to land. lol

easier said in the newsroom than on that plane
  8. i bet it's a big deal to the 150 people on board
  9. i'd rather have hte wheel than not...

  10. It's not the landing gear. The gear is down.

It's just the forward door (they retract forward). They can't retract the gear into the plane, so they are forced to land early. No one is in any danger.... geeez people. They are just following proper procedure.
  11. I'm scared to flying as it is. I just don't like it. I'm watching CNN and if I watch this plane crash, I will never fly again.

I'm actually taking a train to Vegas next month from Chicago. lol
  12. There's a sale at Penny's!
  13. ok...well if I were in the plane would they tell me to assume a crash landing position??? if so...big deal imo...

  14. it's not gonna crash. The gear is down. The problem is they can't stop the gear from NOT being down.
  15. oh, i thought it was the other way around

    normal landing
  16. oh...well in that case...OHHH NOOOOOOEEESSSSS...j/k

    thanks for clarifying

  17. No they wouldn't.

This is not an emergency landing. This is an "abnormal landing." They would inform the people on the plane that they need to land early due to a problem with the gear door. They would let them know that it's not an emergency and that it's just proper operating procedure.
  18. could it land on a treadmill?
  19. lol, no problemo.
  20. it is funny how CNN has it as attempting to land w/o nose gear down...

  21. the nose gear is down but is it locked? You guys did see the video of the plane trying to land and then pull up?
  22. isn't locked good???
    Thread Starter
  23. I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer that question. You might want to ask someone else who has a better idea than me.
  24. I'll pm niptuck.
  25. It wasn't trying to land. That was a procedure that they use. They did a low fly-by next to the tower so that they could take a look at it.

Also it doesn't need to be "locked" exactly. They retract forward, so landing forces it into a locked position to begin with.
  26. Tower to all emergency vehicles, runway is 9er. Airport vehicles take stations 1 and 2. Civilian equipment number 3. Air Force positions number 4 and 5. All ambulances go to number 3. Air Israel, please clear the runway
  27. You're coming in too hot. Ease up on the throttle. Watch for that crosswind. Aim for the numbers, you'll have to dip your left wing. You're drifting, keep your eyes on the far end of the runway. You're too low damnit! Watch your stall speed. Ease her down, down. The break . . . pull the red handle.
  28. anyone else just hear someone say vulchers over the radio?
