  1. No-no through 7IP.

    Chisenhall breaks it up.

I see he was too scared to keep pitching to Chisenhall.
  2. The Indians radio guy keeps saying they are being "no-hitted" rather than "no-hit". It's bugging the shit out of me.
  3. thru 8
  4. There have now been 25 no-hitters in MLB history where a run (or more) has been scored against the pitcher. Just a FYI.

  5. Indians have 5 errors...beautiful

1st game i've watched on my new MLB package. Hope Santana finishes it here

    BOOM

  6. Wooooo! Reverse jinx ftw! I had Santana on 2 of my fantasy baseball teams. What a beastly performance. I'm sure the Angels player who committed that error early on is kicking themself.

  11. Ciz was obviously thinking about fantasy value b/c the error resulted in the lack of the CG SO

  12. Woot woot. Santana was a beast today.

  13. Not just that, Luho, but I think Santana approaches the AB with Chisenhall much differently if he's on the verge of a perfect game. I think he gives Chisenhall a better chance to hit the ball instead of drawing a walk. At that point, he knows he has no perfect game so he can try and get him to chase a pitch. With a perfect game on the line, I think he deals something over the plate and just hopes that it's not hit for a base hit. It's all hypothetical though.

Seriously man? You think out of all the hitters in Cleveland's lineup, Santana is scared of Chisenhall?

  16. NCJ, there have been quite a few since then. The last one was in 1993 by Darryl Kile. A 7-1 victory no-no.

Not Santana's fault. It isn't like Santana pitched an Edwin Jackson no-hitter with 6 BB's and 165 pitches. Santana was dominant today and the Indians scoring 1 run doesn't take anything away from his performance.

I don't think he was afraid of Chisenhall, but that was one of the few AB's where Santana fell behind. I believe he fell behind 3-1 on the count, so the advantage goes towards the hitter. It's less about the hitter and more about the count.

What were you fixing? Edwin Jackson pitched a no-hitter in pretty much the exact way I described. If it's an unearned run it isn't the pitchers fault. Aybar makes that play and nobody reaches base that inning.

Edwin Jackson walked 8 hitters and threw almost 150 pitches.

  21. ok I take back fixing the Jackson part, I thought u were talking about the Lirano one which was like that (Jackson was the opposing pitcher there)

But it was a Santana wild pitch that scored the run, so you can blame him for it. Maybe he got to third on an error but he got to 2nd on Santana. It is unearned but he isnt blameless

Wat? An unearned run is an unearned run.

Andy Hawkins when the Yankees were horribad in 1990 pitched a no-hitter for the Yanks against the White Sox where the White Sox won 4-0. A year later they changed the rule, and they took away his no hitter since he wasn't given an opportunity to pitch the bottom of the 9th since the White Sox were already ahead. Since he only pitched 8 innings they took the no hitter out of the record books.

Jered Weaver did the same thing against the Dodgers a couple years ago. He lost 1-0.
