- Try an esquites (corn on the cob dressed) once in your life. You will thank science. I buy them outside the Mexican grocery story around the street. Dressed here means lime juice, parm. cheese, butter, a little salt, cheese and sour cream. Esquites make me want to adopt a Mexican lady as my grandmother.

- Speaking of which limes are highly underrated. Switch things up and buy some limes every now and then rather than lemons.
- Once upon a time, I went shopping in a popular Mexican grocery store with a Colombian guy I was dating. He told me he felt uncomfortable, and I asked why. For some reason he thinks Colombia is greater than Mexico, and apparently, Venezuela, Chile and every other damn Central and S American country. He didn't like black people either. I remarked how pretty an indigenous girl's hair was in Colombia, and apparently he thought he was above the indigenous, too. So like any proper girl would do, I kicked his ass to the curb. Very musically talented gentleman I must say. Discovered some great Colombian music on my path. and also realized that Americans are probably way too politically correct. Hence my love for OT.
- I would hire Zepplinzoso16 before I'd hire a Harvard grad. True story.
- Don't read these often, but Kyle Bass' newsletter to his investors are sometimes fun to check out: http://www.hedgefundintelligence.com...d-popular.html He starts off quoting one of my favorite books and addressing cognitive dissonance.
- So I've been reading "Old Goriot" by Honore Balzac, the lovely French writer. Much appreciation is given to his detail, but it is almost overwhelming. Due to this detail I affectionately think of him as Ball Sac now.
- Favorite song at the moment:
- It's almost Friday and NCAA tourney is back tonight! Weeeeeeeeeee -
I had philly beef on a bun for lunch and i don't even live there. I also had a kosher dill to go with it and i'm not even jewish.

I've been playing a Meyer 6 on my tenor for 20yrs and today i bought the new Otto Link vintage slant 7* and man does it cook. I'm gonna keep it.
Women are strange creatures but i wouldn't have them any other way.

I find limes to be overrated. but they're great on fajitas
I've found minorities to be far more racist than whites (in general). also, foreigners/foreign countries are far more racist than us. ime(xperience)
I like the song. it really reminds me of some older song, but I can't place it. fffffuuuuuuu!!!

sick brag about dating an uppity mexican.

- Try an esquites (corn on the cob dressed) once in your life. This is the street meat in Bogota along with shitty meat kebobs. Did you have any there?
- I put lime on everything.
- Not all Colombian guys have a sense of superiority over other Latins. I can't believe you dated such a smug. Probably a good lover thats why. As for good Colombian music, I've developed a mancrush on Santiago Cruz. His lyrics can melt even the most beautiful Colombian women.
- I would travel with Zepplinzoso16 around South America if I wasn't looking to succeed in the finance industry
- I've read all of Buffets letters to his investors for the past four years.
- So I've been reading the CFA level I books. (actually Schweser notes). I want to off myself.
- Favorite song at the moment: In motion from the Social network soundtrack
- It's almost Friday and the Arnold Palmer Invitational is on. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -

Unforseen, I thought about you when I made this post. I know better than to associate this with all Colombian men, but I gotta be honest when we were in Colombia talking about investments I asked if they had anything in Brazil or Chile and they looked at me like I was crazy. They were like, "Hell no. that's like investing in your own backyard." lol I refuse to let that kind of nationalism get in the way.
Didn't make it to Bogota with the exception of a layover. Most of my time was spent in Medellin and surrounding area, which we did stop at a few road side restaurants and they were fantastic.
In case you missed it, I posted "Las Puertas del Amor" last night by Colombia's Bajo Tierra which is one of my favorite songs. Don't necessarily like the band's other music as much.
Good luck with your CFA studies and job hunt! -
I read the title as "Equities and other random thoughts"
I was surprised to corn being discussed -
Sour cream? Im perty sure your mexican grandma flipping these things via taco cart is doing it wrong. Its supposed to be mayonnaise. I almost threw up in my mouth the first time I saw my old lady make these.

Sax, nice find on the video! Sangria is a good way to "be drunken." =) -
Honestly, I've met very few Colombians like that. Is he from a wealthy Bogotan or Medellin family? Deep rooted Colombian rich multi-generational families are super elitist (read: racist)
I don't have that sense of nationalism. I have equal respect for all countries, and I have great admiration for Brazil (wanna live there eventually). I love roadside Colombian food although its a hit or miss.
I'm glad you enjoy Colombian music. Every time I go I come back and listen to what its being heard there at the moment for like 6 months. Good luck in your endeavors also (you should play the OT league!) -
I'm thinking of joining the Peace Corps and going to Central or South America. Good idea/bad idea? Where should I go?

Edited By: Seykota Mar 25th, 2011 at 02:55 AMYeah, he had money and most of his friends were very well off there or abroad. I gotta say they were fantastic hosts to me, but it was hard to overlook the attitude given to other people.Originally Posted by Unforseen

Its' a personal decision. but I highly recommend traveling. Any particular reason why the need to join the Peace Corps. If you want to go, you can always find ways to donate time when you're there. I was able to help people with their English as they studied while at the same time people helped me with my Spanish. There are a ton of other ways. -
I despise money and whenever I have some I immediately blow it, so I am perpetually broke. If I had the money to just go and travel the world I would.
-
I've noticed this really strange trend lately where teenage girls are walking around outside with flannel pajama bottoms on. I hope the fad passes quickly.
-
Gotcha, if Peace Corps is the means to do what you want to do, then so be it. You know your best path!
-
Cut off the cob, drop into a cup, mix with mayo, a diced chipotle, a little cumin, lime juice, queso cotija (that's not parm seykota). mmmmmmm.

Every day on my way to work, I go through this one small rotary. I travel from 6 o'clock to 12 o'clock. There is a neighborhood at 3 o'clock and the way they designed the rotary, the people coming out of that neighborhood can pretty much go straight. For those not familiar with rotaries, you yield to the traffic on the left. Well the last 2 mornings, with the rotary empty, I proceeded through my 6 to 12 path (which requires a decent turn - no straight path). Both mornings, someone has raced out of the neighborhood right in front of me requiring me to slam on the brakes. Well this morning, I decided to follow the person. They pulled into a local 7-11 at the end of the road, and I got right on her ass. She started to pull into the gas pump, but then continued driving (me on her ass all the time). She pulled out of the 7-11 and headed back to her original neighborhood. I continued to follow her. She makes a few turns in the neighborhood and then stops. I stop. She moves forward a few feet. I move forward a few feet. She then punches it and squeals the tires. I do a U-turn and leave to get to work.

I think I got my message across.
BTW - did I do anything illegal?
Reason: typos -
Some places have menacing laws, but it'd be hard to make it stick I'd think. It's usually a weapons charge. Was this the same person both mornings?
-
No, just weird and passive-aggressive.
Edited By: LuckyWilbury Mar 25th, 2011 at 03:36 AM -
Not the same person, but there are a couple of familiar cars that I've seen do it. And I don't have a weapon in the car.
I'm pretty certain that people have complained about it, because at least once a week there is a cop watching the rotary. Problem is, he usually sits in a spot that is obvious to people coming out of that neighborhood. I've been tempted to stop and ask to him to move to a less conspicuous spot. Thing is - the intersection used to be a 4 way stop and there was never a problem.
With most bad traffic intersections like this, it will take someone getting killed before they improve it. The other bad piece of this - there are several school buses that go through that intersection every day. -
I had a saleslady call on me today that i'm almost positive hasn't always been a lady. It was really awkward. We also have a transgendered courier driver that regularly delivers to our office. Do you think i'm on some weird kind of transgendered hit list?
