Any OTers know how to play euchre?
Prior to my poker playing days, I used to play a lot of crazy eights, euchre and the dreaded acey ducey!
We used to play euchre tournaments in high school at different people's houses and at lunchtime during school for money. Just curious as to whether many poker players got their start playing card games like euchre or if its just an Ohio Valley/Midwest card game.
As a side note, if anyone is interested in playing euchre online for $, there are $1 and $10 games on Carbon Poker. -
i played euchre for a little while but didn't grow up with it the way i know a lot of midwesterners do. i played a lot more gin. i'm not great at either game.
-
It's pretty big in Canada
-
Before they made it $$, I was HUGE into the euchre ladder on Yahoo!. I cracked the top 100 a few times...I used to play alllll the time.
-
ive played it before, but i dont know how to play it well.
Euchre is basically a dumbed down version of bridge -
From Ohio here. We had year long round robin Euchre tourneys in high school. Proud 97 champ. Great game.
-
holy shit!!!!!!!
lurk much? -
its really popular in indiana. played it all the time growing up.
I dont think itd be fun online because theres really not much strategy and mostly just about lucky cards. Its only fun playing live because partners can share signs and people can cheat. -
me too man, made it as high as 3, i played under the name of bottleinfrontofme, wonder if we ever played? damn i was putting in as many hours in euchre as i was at work.

somehow bragging that i was once the 3rd ranked euchre player in the world doesn't seem as cool as it used to -
i learned it over a summer when my buddies got home from Indiana University...we played for cash. I would give them money when we played Euchre and get it all back playing 7stud, 2card guts, and inbetween.

That's pretty sweet...yah it's not such a brag now, but you're right--it was SOOO time consuming. I think I was just JJRoth15 on there...not sure.
I would come home from school and play until like 11 PM every night. -
i play bridge a lot so i would probably be pretty good at euchre but i have never played.
-
Played all the time growing up. Used to love playing euchre. Moved to Georgia and had to teach folks how to play in order to get up a game. Probably been 2 to 3 years since I played at all. Would like to get back into it.
-
I used to play on Pogo.com all the time a few years ago. Had the highest rated name ever on the site, and I'm 99% sure no one has beaten it to this day.
I'm freakishly good at the game (that said, it's not exactly chess.) If anyone plays and/or wants to learn or get better, hit me up. -
Euchre is probably the most frustrating card game that I have played besides poker. I have a different name for it, something phonetically similar.
-
used to play alll the time, was huge in high school 00-02, the game became so aggressive i was very LAG, making trump on 9 Left 3 suited, becuase opposite was turned down, it got redic.
-
great game, however live in Central NY in college and it's all about "pitch". Anyone play this?
-
Pretty standard vs decent opponents...
-
p0ker h0 and I are probably the worlds greatest euchre players:) We will take on any team for anything, at anytime.

If you're actually serious, PM me and we'll get something going.

I've always played euchre since I was young, but it was crib that I was into on the yahoo ladder. I was always hovering around the top 20 there for at least a year. Etna ftw.
-
I'm in Indiana and it was the 1st card game I learned. We used to play for 10 cents a point when I was a kid. Good times, good times.
-
I crush at euchre, gin, hearts, spades, cribbage and rummy. Love those games!
Sheepshead is also a great midwest game that I am mildly familiar with, but not good.
Rap poker is fun, too. -
played it a bunch going to middle school and high school in michigan, fun game haven't played in ages tho
