Arggggh too many failed chances. Ronaldo get a shot on goal ftlog!
Coin flip/pks ftw
One thing that I've noticed in the few matches I've watched so far is that the diving isn't nearly as bad as it is in the WC. Why is that? -
PKs are the worst, the worst.
just replay the game until someone wins in 90 minutes like they used to. -
Deron Battier?
-
Centre backs taking some great pens
-
How do they not have Ronaldo taking one before 5th?
-
hey coach can i kick last?
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
fuck him -
I love shootouts
-
lol @ ronaldo never getting a chance. im no soccer expert, but common fucking sense says he has to take that 4th shot down 3-2. unreal stupidity.
-
Complete and utter bullshit. Well played, Ronaldo.
-
WHO THE FUCK PUT RONALDO FIFTH? I mean, I am glad it's Spain, and all the Portogeezers can put away their flags for a couple more years, but FIFTH?!? WTF?!?
-
ballack had it right imo.. why not shoot the best shooters up front and put pressure on the other team. this way you ensure you are getting the right guys guaranteed shots.. who knows though.. i guess kicking first is where its at, but personally i dont like it. ronaldo and lebron are obv related.

got to go with spain again. i think the US was the last team to knock them out of a tourney.. whoop whoop -
lol I had this typed out in my post too, but took it out cuz I woulda had to add "pre-2012" to it. Lebron stepped up this year. Much as I hate him, can't deny it.

I was wondering the same thing.
This game made me want to puke. So many blown opportunities by just taking ridiculous & bad shots it was driving me nuts. I think I only saw two or three good attempts all game by either team. -
This tournament is Germany's to lose . . . no way spain beats the Germans playing like the did today. Penalties? I wil take the teutonic skill of the Germans any day. So long as they get past Italy, it is a done deal.
-
Get your cash ready son
-
Ronaldo asked to be the closer OBV...he wanted the glory
-
Ronaldo 23-2 on his last 25 PKs - yeah, don't see any reason to have him get a guaranteed attempt...
-
After last night's drive 60 miles to bar, have chick cancel halfway there, meetup with bunch of friends, drive 60 miles back, sleep 90 minutes, wake up at 240a.m., roll up, watch match, sleep 90 minutes, full day of work, I can finally weigh in on this match.
Despite being goalless, this was one of the best 2 or 3 matches of Euros so far. Portugal played phenomenally in shutting down Spain, and guys like Xavi and Iniesta looked pretty pedestrian. Playing some rando striker instead of Torres bombed massively, as he's the kind of player who could have terrorized a defense that doesn't like to stay too close to home and got 4 yellow cards not defending against anyone. If you're playing Cesc as the false 9, that's fine, but one of your 20574023547203547 midfielders has to actually occupy the space that the nonexistent striker is supposed to be occupying, and so many times Spain just had the ball dinking around with no target in the box because the false nine wasn't in a striker spot.
That said, Milo, you're an a bit daft to suggest Spain has no chance against the Krauts. Spain has won two consecutive international tournaments, has found a capable replacement for Puyol, has like six of the best 10 midfielders in the world playing together (and guys like Mata aren't nearly good enough to sniff time), and simply needs to have the confidence to play the striker who has been there before and won this tournament for them before in the final. You really think one of the great teams of all time is simply "done" against anyone? Remember, Germany didn't have an easy time with Portugal either...

It was obviously going to crash and burn when Nani came running up and tapped the other guy on the shoulder to switch PK order... that totally threw the dude off and it was obvious he was going to miss after that. Ronaldo should have seen that coming and done the same thing... actually, he should have kicked first. The glory thing doesn't matter nearly as much as the lead in PKs, as your "closer" sometimes never gets to kick.
Going to sleep at 9pm so I can wake up for tonight's game, should be fun... -
I've seen worse 0-0 draws, but I definitely wouldn't call that one of the best games of the tournament. Neither team created much going forward and the finishing was bad.
I do like that the officials have made more of an effort to crack down on complaining to the referee and diving. Sergio Ramos went and yelled at the referee yesterday trying to get a dive called on Ronaldo and he got immediately booked for it. I'd love for that to be a mandatory rule -- ask the referee to book someone and you get an automatic booking yourself. I wouldn't even mind if the Captain was the only person that was able to talk to the referee -- as teams like Barcelona have made it part of their game plan.

Yellow cards for backchat are retarded esp if players are contesting a bad decision. The next time they commit a legit foul, they're off the pitch. Ridiculous.

Game was nowhere near as bad as the pundits were saying. First 90 wasnt amazing but extra time was intense. -
Is a referee ever going to reverse a bad decision because a player tells him he's wrong? No he's not, so there is absolutely no reason for it. And if players knew that they were going to get booked immediately for asking for someone else to be booked, they wouldn't do it anymore...

Spain finally looked like Spain in extra time - they were pretty poor through the first 90 though. With another 5-10 minutes they would have won that in regulation. -
back-yammer is ridiculous and will insta-stop when yellows are given for it.
Germany 3
Italy 1
