  1. I'll be moving to Evansville within the next couple months, so I thought I'd ask for OT's scouting report. The only thing set in stone is I'll be attending the illustrious Univ. of Southern Ind. Beyond that, the rest is open.

So, what do I need to know re: bars, apartments, the casino, whatever else? Any/all info is appreciated.

  2. It has one Casino which is Casino Aztar which is also known as the Ashtray, there is decent poker action there every night, lots of donks!! But it is a shitty casino, but oh well.

Bars are decent, USI is basically the last resort college for most kids in Indiana, easiest college to get into, it's where all the people go that other colleges don't accept, but it does have its fair share of hot dumb blondes.

I didn't go to school there so I have no idea about apartments. It's a decent town though as far as entertainment with concerts at Roberts Stadium and definitely plenty of things to do in the city. I go shopping there, out to eat, etc often and obv the casino.

Yeah, I knew this part. I've been working my way down the ladder of Indiana colleges in the last 5 years. Butler to IUPUI to USI. But luckily as the quality goes down, so does the cost. I was considering IU this fall, but I figured I could make easier money at Aztar than grinding online/a bullshit job in Bloomington.

  5. I have lived in Evansville for 6 years. Casino is cool, as long as you only play poker. You have to be 70 years old to play anything else. They run a reg 1-3 NL, 3-6 LH, 1-5 Stud , Big PL Omaha games on Monday and Wednesday. Omaha 8 on Tuesdays. Town is ok. I moved from Atlanta so it took a while to get used to. It's not as small a town as you think. It has a pretty decent night scene. Lots of bars and pubs. I like it here.
  6. too bad you couldn't go to mattingly's 23. i still have one of the original tshirts from that bar. my dad gave it to me. man, i <3 donnie baseball.
  7. I live about 3 miles from the Mattingly house. He just recently got divorced. It's a nice place.

  9. If you didn't already know, S. Indiana and S. Illinois are pretty much "the South." Be prepared for lots of rednecks, racism, and the pronunciation-challenged. gl

  12. I use to travel to play at aztar at least once a month. I loved the old lady that ran the card room. we got free food all the time. She would have them bring trays of meats and bread and donuts down all the time. She use to work a room in vegas.

Does she still run it there? Its been 7+ years since i have been there.

Nope. The woman who runs it is named Carol. Mid 40's maybe. The poker room has actually gotten a little better. They actually have a computerized comp system now. .75 cents an hour. Much better than the old deli comp they used to give you. Saturday nights, you can really clean up at the 1/3 NL tables. The drunks come in and donate big time. I have left with $2000+ several times. $300 max buy in.
  16. Find out for me why Rick Herdes was fired. I still don't know.

Nobody here really knows. The keep saying it's because of "irregularities in the basketball program". I will ask some of the west-siders next time I am at the table.
  18. This is good.
