    I hate them more than I hate any other band in history, that lead singer douche makes me very very upset when I hear/see/read anything with them in it. Also on a related note, is emo dead yet? If not can I get an ETA on when this should be happening?

    The bassist makes me cringe from time to time but it's hard to deny that they know how to write a catchy song.

    Instead of trying to be a tough guy and say "Fall Out Boy sucks brah" and "brah emo is weak", why don't you take time to listen to some of the music for yourself and realize that some of it is good.

    Okay I always laugh when I read this kind of thing. So what yeah hes a douche so are half the singers in hollywood from all types of genres. Thier lyrics are actaully pretty witty and they are better musicians then a lot of other bands that it is "okay" to like such as good charoltte. Why is FOB looked dow so much upon? Because they make silly songs that are catchy are are really mainstream? oh wow. Why do you care so much? Afraid people will think you like sucking dick if you admit to liking a pop group( yeah they look emo but theyre music is more pop). I like some of the hardest fucking metal and some of the the hardest industrial EMB but I am not afraid to get off my horse and say yup I cant help but fall for the catchy shit that is FOB. Music should make you happy and if FOB doesnt then thats cool but dont try to seem tought by making it a point to brag about how you hate them.

    i would also like to say i dont really like emo either though

    I'm not a HUGE fan, that said, think there's some stereotyping going on here. Yeah, FOB is emo, but not emo enough to just write them off. Imo. The ones you reeeeeeally have to avoid are like Dashboard Confessional, Secondhand Serenade, stuff like that. You know, my girlfriend just broke up with me, kill me now, etc.

    I am not trying to act fucking cool, it was a serious quesiton. I havent seen those homos around and was legitemately asking if their 5 minutes has officially ended. Also, I hate most emo bands, and Ive heard their music Im not just hating them because theyre grown men who dress like middle school girls.

    I should know better than to defend emo, but here goes:

    Today's emo, yeah, it sucks. It's also a bastardization and commercialization of what the genre started out being. Bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, The Promise Ring, The Get Up Kids, Texas Is The Reason were influenced by bands like Fugazi and the DC Hardcore scene of the late 80's, which is pretty far away from the Dance, Dance of Fall Out Boy and yet are still, typically, tossed into the genre. So that said, I too, cannot stand present day emo, but imo there are some bands that the genre was founded on/evolved from on that are pretty good.

    Also, to the OP, I think that it's fair to say that emo is just about dead - so don't slit your wrists, that would only extend it's stay.

    Something to consider...

    A few years ago someone made an interpretation parody cartoon for Fall Out Boy's song, "Sugar We're Goin Down." I thought it was pretty funny and wanted to make one of my own. This led to my As I Lay Dying video (which was banned from Youtube for animated rape). But it was the first thing I'd ever done in MSPaint.

    So if it weren't for Fall Out Boy, I may never have used Mspaint..... think about it.
