    10-team Roto league, standard categories minus TO. I'm in third to last overall and last in steals. What you think about this trade?

    I trade Joe Johnson and Pau Gasol

    for

    Carlos Boozer, Manu Ginobli and Monta Ellis

    My thoughts: Obviously wont have Monta until January the earliest but he will get me a ton of steals. Manu is also a big steal guy and replaces the threes lost from Johnson. Boozer is coming off an injury but he shoulud be fine. I am also trying to get Antwan Jamison instead of Boozer from the guy but he won't budge. OT's thoughts?

    PG- Jose Calderon

    SG- Joe Johnson

    G- Hedo Turkoglu

    SF- Lebron James

    PF- Pau Gasol

    F- Emeka Okafor

    C- Zydrunas Illgauskus

    C- Kevin Love

    Two Util spots and 4 Bench spots split between: Randy Foye, Beno Udrih, Francisco Garcia, Jeff Green, Samuel Dalembert (plus come back to normal) and Jose Juan Barea.

    I think gambling on Monta is kinda foolish. If you're already last in steals and falling further behind until he might come back, I'm not sure he's really gonna be the difference maker for you there.

    Leets, go to www.basketballmonster.com, top left hand corner click on player rankings. Plug in your categories and you'll see a detailed ranking of all the players based on the categories in your league.

    Most people don't use this, and so in every trade you can make sure you're getting more value than the other guy. After a few trades and pickups based on that your team will be golden.

    Example: Some idiot dropped Nate Robinson after his little hammy issue. WTF?? I mean, yeah dude is gonna miss a few games, but in 12 categories he is a top 45 player. I picked him up immediately and will benefit tremendously by getting a top 45 guy for that injured sinkhole that is dunleavy.

    Example 2: Just made a trade for AK-47 by giving up Maggette. He is awesome in points and fts and ft%, but he is playing like shit and is an injury risk. But, he has some solid name cache. He's ranked 96 right now. AK-47 is like 52 I think. I ws able to make a one for one trade and gain a ton of value. My valuation of AK-47 is much different than everyone else in the league, because they don't recognize the true value of the guy in our 12 cat. league. And thus, I can steal value and improve my team.

    First time ever in FBB last year in a big $$ league and I took down the championship based on this strategy. GLGL

    Thanks for the site but this trade is a little different. I need people's thoughts on the future expectations on Monta's statistics once he comes back from injury. Your site can't analyze this trade because of Monta's injury this season (and I don't want to use last year's data to extrapolate).

    If the Warriors weren't eating hairy goat balls this year, I might be more optimistic on Monta's return, but why are they going to try and rush him back out there? Same problem for Arenas owners.

    Yeah, figure that site will help.

    Monta is fucking sick. Him, Granger, Manu and Dunleavy were unreal in the fantasy playoffs and monta had some games that just blew my mind. But that's H2H.

    He is a fantasy game changer. Manu is an uber-stud, moreso in my 12 categories than your eight. But, still he's awesome.

    I think I do this deal. Boozer will come back as a beast and >>> Gasol. JJ has been a top 5-10 guy so far this year, but that won't continue, and Manu will only get sicker. Monta actually just started working out with the team and will be back sooner rather than later, imo. He is their superstud star player and will be a baller when he gets back. Youre in third to last. Need to make something happen to get moving. I think you take a flyer. If Monta doesn't pan out you lose in the deal, but not by too much since a straight 2 for 2 here isnt THAT bad. If Monta comes back and plays baller you will pwn this deal.

    He's right, basketballmonster.com is the nuts. I found the site two weeks ago and have already shot up my league standings in just that short time.

    I plugged in these league settings: 10 teams, 14 players per team, Pts, 3pm, Reb, Ast, Stl, Blk, FG%, FT%

    It came up with these rankings:

    22 Carlos Boozer

    31 Joe Johnson

    32 Manu Ginobili

    38 Pau Gasol
    You're actually getting the better part of this deal even you don't consider Ellis. So, at least according to this site, you make the deal and anything you get from Ellis is a bonus. Also, FYI Jamison is ranked #45.

    i offered JJ, Gasol and Beno Udrih for Antawn, Manu and Monta. If he rejects that I'll go back to the JJ and Gasol for Boozer, Manu and Monta deal.

    If he won't do the deal for Antawn, I wouldn't do it. Antawn at least gives you someone who's giving you steals now. Everyone is getting blinded by the rankings, but that doesn't mean shit. If you are set on assists, and acquire a highly ranked assist player, you may have 'won' the deal but it didn't really help you any.

    You need to acquire actual steals. I'm sure you can find another package that will allow you to pick up a player who's actually playing, as opposed to trading talent like that and hoping this guy is gonna come back and play enough to help you out.

    well ginobli averages like 1.5 steals, monta too and jamison and boozer are in the 1.1-1.3 steals per game range which is very good. all the players from his side would help me with steals.
