  1. So, heres the deal. I run a league amongst friends..Some are good friends with each other, some are acquaintances that just met at this years draft.

It's not huge money, but im sure a few had to scrape up some loose $ to play.

We have 12 teams with 6 playoff spots. 2 byes- top 3 get paid
One guy is leading his division, but would need to beat another guy by 80 (they dont play this week) to get the bye.
His opponent this week needs a win to get in as a 6 seed. He has Aaron Rodgers who gets injured. He then calls guy hes playing and convinces him to sit Adrian Peterson/ravens D/ Roy williams so he gets in.

I call them both today the guy that sat his players basically says ''eh whatever i dont really care. consider it a wedding present to him" The guy that did the convincing is trying to argue the strategy that by losing it lets a weaker opponent into the playoffs. Which is a good point, IF it didnt negatively affect the guy throwing the game. He has a shot at a bye albeit long..Even without that though he will play a 6 seed if he wins or he'll be the 5 seed if he loses.

Basically he's at a disadvantage by throwing this game.

My opinion is its not fair to the guys that dont really have close friends in the league. To play all year have a shot at the playoffs, but miss out because one guy convinced his friend to throw it under pretenses of strategy. It's not fair nor fun and whats the point then?

On the other hand its his team and if hes stupid enough to be talked into this more power to him.

Do I have any authority to step in and make it fair?

    Cliffs: ffb drama bomb..

  2. It's complete and utter bullshit and if it is clear who should have been in the lineup, they should be subbed back in.

    This.

Its collusion and id be pissed if I got screwed because of it.
  4. pretty sure its not fair to any person who would get it as the 6th seed if the guy lost. seems like obv collusion.

  5. Personal preference is to call bullshit and rework the scores/standing based on how he would have scored had he played correct players.

edit: what everyone else is saying too

  6. do you really need to ask?
  7. This almost exact same scenario happened in a $ league I'm in with friends and I went apeshit over it. Commish did the right thing and subbed in the dude's normal lineup.

When $ is on the line, you don't pull crap like that...ever.
  8. I figured out years ago that the only fantasy sports I actually enjoy are the massive field roto leagues vs complete strangers.

It's a shame that grown men can become such throbbing dicks when you put them in a fantasy league.
  9. collusion is never acceptable in fantasy sports, even if it benefits both of them in my mind.
  10. It's clearly collusion because they called each other. Put those guys back in his lineup...

That said, I have in the past sat my entire fantasy team to get a weak-ass team into the playoffs as my opponent the next week. I didn't discuss it with anyone though, because once you do that, it's collusion. Do people have a problem with this? Where do you draw the line?

Shockingly, I actually won the league where I pulled that move. I half expected to be treated like the Bengals were last year when they decided they'd rather tank and play the shitty Jets team in the playoffs. Oops.
  11. Yeah I told them I was tempted to make it a league vote and see what happens. But just feel like a douche getting involved.
It was a definitely line up change as he took out AP.

  12. Yea, i think you should def step in and fix this. It's not right at all. I mean how would you feel if you were trying to get in as the 6 seed and saw you had no chance because a game is being thrown..
  13. That was one of his arguments that the Bengals did it in the NFL. That the colts rested their guys etc. Clearly not comparable . Resting guys in a violent game to avoid injury vs ffb

I edited out my second sentence about going to a league vote only because I hate that idea... it should really be your call to fix it and you should, but I do see the hazards with people calling out other people over lesser line up moves, etc... where is the line? CLearly this is collusion and blows though.
  15. well it would be comparable if they were to play each other in the first round of the playoffs. like if guy with AP would be 3 seed and guy with rodgers would be 6 seed, bc then it is like the bengals situation(if they lost to the jets, they played the jets the next week, who they felt they had a better shot to beat). however since guy with AP would be the 5 seed i think you said and the two wouldn't play, it is collusion and you should reset the lineups.

  16. Aight thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure I wasnt going over the line by stepping in and adjusting.

  17. more people will have a problem with you doing nothing, than doing something
  18. def. make the adjustment as commish and let guys know that collusion of any type in a money league is a no-no, period.

  20. Colusion is a joke in FFB, Handle this shit, or pull a chaz

    jk
  21. if it benefited both of them i wouldn't have a problem with it, but his argument wasn't "it's good for me." it was "this is a wedding present for him" or w/e.

    this is fine tho
  23. agree with everyone ITT. The phone call is what makes it straight collusion. If he just did it on his own to play a "weaker" oppenent in round 1 than that is fine but calling to get his buddy in is collsuion and wrong. FFB playoffs is way too serious business for many people
  24. Im in a league with some friends and the guy that was in first place had a guy with no shot (his best friend) put in all his scrubs in week 12. I noticed this and caused a little stink by making it known to everyone. The two of them still dont understand why it was wrong and how it wouldve effected everything from that point on and just say im a crybaby for saying anything, well the commish ended up putting in the right lineup thus giving him the loss and he ended up with the 6 seed instead of the bye since our league was so close with records. I got the 3 seed and am beating him by 20 with Flacco to go and he has Anquan...justice one time plz hold.
