Just had my fantasy football draft a couple of days ago. This is only my second year playing fantasy football, and only my very first draft. last year my team was autopicked for me. What positions do I need work on? Thanks. Also its a standard H2H 10 man league.
QB: Peyton Manning
RB: Adrian Peterson
RB: Willis McGahee
WR: Santonio Holmes
WR: Terrell Owens
WR: Wes Welker
TE: Tony Gonzalez
D/ST: Ravens
K: Stephen Gostkowski
Bench: Jay Cutler
Bench: Ted Ginn Jr.
Bench: Peyton Hillis
Bench: Jermey Shockey
Bench: Mark Bradley
Bench: Chad Pennington
Bench: Jermey Maclin -
assuming you don't lose a bunch of guys to bye weeks the same week, looks like you have a team that can win a league. i would try and trade gonzalez based on name value because i don't think he will get the touches he got in KC.
-
ahh caNT WAIT for FF..
Blackout- u down for $150/ head 10 team league this yr? -
Wr is your weakest positon imo. Cutler is probably too good to be a backup, maybe look into trading him for a legit wideout
-
Def trade a QB. I hate willis so I think you should try and get a #2 rb. You also should look to improve at WR a bit.
all-in-all solid playoff quality team.
edit: drop Bradley and pick up an RB now. -
be a WW/FA hawk and pickup any possible RBs, your gonna need some depth there as someone mentioned...
-
holy early draft
-
Thanks for the help, and yeah in my opinion I think RB is my weakest position. Will def look into trading Cutler, thanks.
-
Personaly I don't agree with trading Cutler. You can get some decent value out of trading Pennington and keep Cutler. The Bears are in a great divison for passing quarterbacks, and honestly I think Manning isn't going to be a stellar fantasy QB this year. Even though he's prolly going to be better than Cutler, I don't see Pennington as a 2nd viable option if Manning does get off to a rough start. Keep Cutler, try and dish Pennington.
-
If you can get a WR-I believe you lack a top one- or RB, to back up Peterson, trade Pennington if you can, or Cutler if you must. I'm not totally sold on Cutler in Chicago, for the same reason as Owens in Buffalo, come the coldest part of the season- those teams will be forced to run more, thus likely reducing the value of each.
-
I think ur wrs are fine.......u have 2 of the top 15 wrs and one in the top 25-30. You definitely need another rb. Mcgahee could be almost useless this year and Hillis definitely will be. If someone is dumb enough to give you something for Pennington or Hillis obviously that would be great, otherwise I would drop both of them and pick up a couple of running backs or a rb and a wr. Who is available on the waiver wire at those spots?
-
On the Wire for RB's and WR's at this time are:
Leon Washington
Ricky Williams
Chester Taylor
WR's are:
Muhsin Muhammad-Car
Marvin Harrison
Mark Clayton-Bal
Deion Branch-Sea
Justin Gage-Ten -
If all that's left in the running back pool your in bad shape....Ricky williams would be my choice he's a decent flex play. On wide receivers I'd choose either Michael clayton only because he's the #1 receiver now since my always reliable derrick mason is retired. the only other wr's I'd consider is Justin gage or muhsin muhammad both have the same value in my eyes. If I was you I'd put Ole Jay cutler on the trading block for Rb help or wr help your back ups aren't that good bro...I believe Chad pennington is a Good backup to peyton manning, You only need to play Chad when peyton has his bye week. Just work on getting back ups in wr and rb. Anyways Good luck Cuz... Good luck In your league. Overall, You have a decent team to make the playoffs but you need back up help bad!
-
I appreciate the responses and the help. Thanks.
-
you HAVE to pick up Chester Taylor right this second. If Peterson goes down Chester is a number one RB.
-
I have a hard time believing you were able to draft Manning, Cutler and Peterson.
I say drop McGahee for Taylor due to the fact Rice and McLain did so well last year and Rice is probaly going to get more of the carries. Then trade Cutler for good RB and WR because someone will take that trade. -
Why do you have a hard time believing I drafted Cutler, Manning and Peterson? Don't think I have a reason to lie about my team bro. I had the 1st and 10th pick. I drafted Peterson as the Number 1 pick of the First round, and in the Second round manning was still there at 10 so I picked him up. Then I think 3rd I took T.O. and 4th I think thats when I got Cutler. Or something like that.
-
ya cutlers not that big of a commodity anyway tbh. he's got iffy talent around him and a def/run 1st HC. also he has bad weather games during PO time.

Unless its a two QB league pls hold off on getting your BU QB till the 10-12 rounds and work on your RB and WR depth. I'm pOSITIVE i'd love your draft so much more if you went WR/RB or RB/RB in the 4th/5th instead of Cutler/gonzalez.
draft day is only draft day tho. If you can get bush/mendenhall/lesean mccoy/shonne green of the waiver wire and there is a injury then your team might be tuff.
i suggest dropping shockey and hillis immed (and maybe willis Mc too) if you can grab 2 or 3 of the guys i listed above. TBH you could drop pennington as well. In a ten team 1 qb league there will be plenty of playable bye week options for you, if you do get anything for cutler (which at best i thinku get an RB3 or WR2).
or maybe you find someone in love with manning and scoop an RB1 or w1 -
Looking a second time I see your in a 10 team league. The smallest I have been in is a 12 team league.
Also, now knowing you have the 1st pick in each round explains it more. Every league I've been in the draft is teams 1 thru 12 first round then second round teams 12 thru 1 and so on.
That's crazy that Cutler fell to you in the 4th round though. Good trade bait -
cutler's adp this fall is going to be around 75 this fall (maybe 15 in chicago and denver but w/e) in 1qb leagues.

Yeah its a 10 team league and i think only 3 teams including mine was there for the draft. The other 7 teams was getting auto picked so yeah cutler kinda just fell into me in the later rounds.
-
Huh? I know I wont be drafting Cutler in the 4th,5th, or 6th rounds.......I also wont be taking Owens in the 3rd or 4th round
