I could write an epic bfactoresq post as to why Stanley Kubrick is clearly the worst director in the the history of the universe, but Im too tired and lazy. Perhaps I shall share my genius on a later date.

I'd love to read that. I'd probably laugh a little bit, but I'd still read it. There really aren't many directors who are equal to or more important to cinema than Kubrick. Read a book about him. His work is much deeper than what you see on screen.
  12. Not ranking them, that's too tough, so in no particular order:

    Akira Kurosawa

    Wong Kar Wai

    Zhang Yi Mou

    Chan Wook Park

    Stanley Kubrick

    David Lynch

    David Cronenburg

    Werner Herzog

    Chris Marker

    Sogo Ishii

    Ingmar Bergman

    Sergio Leone

    Hitchcock

    Richard Kelly

    David Fincher

    Takashi Miike

    Wim Wenders

    ANDREI TARKOVSKY

    Cohen Brothers

    Scorsese

I'm sure I forgot a few, this could be a very long list
  13. Christopher Nolan is one of my most favorite.

Memento for starters, and the new Batmans

I agree I would love to read it. I wouldn't say he was the greatest director of all time, not by a long shot, but you cannot deny some of his films are incredible and western cinema wouldn't be the same without his work. He has influenced so many modern directors its ridiculous.
  15. Quentin Tarentino

    Kevin Smith

    Martin McDonaugh

    Guy Ritchie
  16. Kevin Smith?? I would put him down as a magnificent comedic writer but i haven't seen any of his films that really portray him as a talented director

He did almost as much as Tarantino for "independent" filmmaking, so he deserves a little credit there, but he wouldn't make my list. Then again, neither would Tarantino.

    2: Who Cares
